Damn I guess I forgot the face guy last night, or how anyone didn't pick up on the fact I was trolling the drama queens with my hysterical posts is beyond me....I really thought the cheering for the Seattle Flames would have been a dead give away....

I think (no sarcasm) that the management team in Vancouver made a safe, easy, let's not try to hard, stupid choice. Green will be a interm coach for the next few years, he is like a sacrificial coach while Vancouver picks 1st overall for the next 4 years. I not anyone more of a fan of his than I was of Willie. I would have preferred Reirdon, Kruger, Gallant, Dineen, Lefty, Dragon, anyone else, but oh well, let's enjoy the 1st OV for awhile...

I don't find this post in line with our morning hate-fest. Please refrain from posting if you can't play along.

And by the way I think you meant "too hard" not "to hard". What are you, eight?

I'm a little perplexed about the Foote love .... when I've seen him play I thought Luke Schenn was back playing Jr. hockey ...

Sometimes the rosters don't necessarily work in the coaches favor no matter what level you coach.

Green has been praised for his work with Zalweski,Labate,Virtanen,Archibald,Grenier, Subban,Pedan Demko to name a few.

Sure many will never be long term NHL'ers but still not the point. Players are showing some pretty great improvements under Green in a 2-4 year period..and that's a good sign. Focusing on just 'fringe NHL'ers' that came up under Green is a tad unfair at this point.

One thing that will benefit Green is his vast amount of NHL experience as a player and I believe this can translate to the room and even the country club members. We haven't had a coach with that much playing experience for a long time I think. Willing to give it a shot and for right now a better and wiser option that a high dollar so called 'playoff' coach.

there has been a dramatic uptick in hysteria on these boards ever since Tryamkin bolted to the KHL

I am with you there. But I'll accept losing for one more year don't know if you heard but there is a Malkin clone in next years draft
- CanuckDon

The next Tkachuk. The next Lidstrom. There are about 3 czech players that played against men this year. There are quite a few players that are like Patrick that were a week away from being drafted this year. Which probably explains why this draft is much weaker and next years draft looks solid through 3 rounds.

I wonder if the LA Kings interviewed anyone for their head coaching vacancy? I also wonder if their fans are having a melt down because they didn't and just hired "their guy." No need to wonder, they didn't interview anybody

I want 2 more years of loosing. Hughes in 2019 is nearing Mathews/McDavid territory it seems.

Svenchikov or whatever is putting up better numbers than Mathews at the same age in the USHL someone said so between him and Dahlen yes I hope we come dead last next season.

I read that this kid is the next Nik Backstrom from WSH.

That's why I think they should keep players in the minors and sign a few vets. Trade Tanev and Edler next season at the deadline with the Sedin's. 6 picks in the first 2 rounds in 2018 and yes rebuild would be complete. Van would be going presidents trophy a year later. Also Granlund and Baertschi contracts will be in the final season too. Could go for first round picks.

I think my (and possibly others) issue with the coaching hire, is not the coach they hired but the process surrounding it:

The firing felt like a reaction to outside forces/media, as reports from Burrows/Hansen post-trade and Horvat all indicated the players all supported and believed in Willie heading into a mean-nothing season.

The replacement search seemed hokey from the beginning by not cleaning out the entire staff. Either fire everyone or just fire Willie and let the replacement decide the fate of the remaining staff...

Reports came out that Green would not coach AHL next year, he'd be NHL or Europe (on top of previous reports that said he would not take an NHL assistant job)

We didnt see any reports of requesting permission to talk to any other experienced coaches that were recently fired

There was also no reports of the Canucks having any interest in any other candidates, including some top assistants (except for the longshot of asking an EPL President to come coach)

I dont hate the hire, it will probably be decent to watch, and I definitely know the Canucks probably do not have the luxury of picking whichever candidate they want given their current situation. It just continues to be a puzzling series of decisions by the management/owner group running the team that is leaving a poor taste in my mouth

Next year is totally stacked. Ive never even heard of this guy. Not to mention all the dmen next year.

We really need to deal assets that wont be a part of this team in the long term. Also, if we can get picks for taking on a couple garbage contracts that will expire in the next season or 2.

I just have zero faith in TL to allow JB to actually do this.

The twins are 100% not going anywhere, I don't know why that's so hard for some to accept. Chances are Edler will refuse a trade at least until they retire as well. He was pretty clear about not wanting to be traded in his last interview

Tryamkin hates Green, he wouldn't go to Utica and once WD was fired he knew Green would be hired here so he bailed, this is true because a Russian told me.

I think trade them both now but for picks in 2018. Then use the cap space and roster spots for additional free agents or cap dumps that can moved at the deadline.

I also like the idea of moving sven and granlund as soon as internal talent is ready to take over.
