Yeah perhaps on the PP...thought Aussie was talking about 5 on 5. - MattStrat
Ovi doesn't really camp out at a specific spot at 5v5. Dude is pretty much everywhere in the offensive zone. But on the PP, he pretty much lives on or slightly above that left wing faceoff dot, waiting for the one timer. And they feed him constantly on the PP. Something I never understood with the Pens.. Geno has a deadly one-timer and could easily be utilized the same way, but you only see them set up the Geno bomb once in a blue moon. |

I'd rather blanket OV on the powerplay and play 4v3 with the other 7 players on the PP. Make Backstrom/Oshie/Williams/or their elite D beat us. - j.boyd919
I remember when both him and his bud Mike Green were racking up points on the pp. Hard to believe everyone knows where he will be n parked on the pp and how's he gonna shoot, and yet, still have not been able to stop him when he gets a clean pass |

^Holy (frank). That defense tho.
Seriously, the defense would have been even more (frank)ed up without Cole. For as much flak as he gets, he's held his head above water when paired with jultz in the clb series. |

Yeah, it's bad lol not bad in a sense the Pens D is bad, but bad in a sense that WSH
s D is (frank)ing stacked.
For those wondering Dom used a combination of goals, primary assists, secondary assists, shots on goal, blocked shots, penalty differential, faceoffs, 5-on-5 corsi differential, 5-on-5 goal differential to come up with his "game score" |

I think it's both? If not both, it's definitely the regular season, I asked if he had game score charts for round 1 and he didn't answer. |

Thanks again. Doesn't Trotz usually play Alzner over Schultz? And if so curious what Alzner's game score is. It's a moot point if Alzner's not close to playing, but I thought I read semi recently that he was close. |

March 27th he was at .25 which he has labeled as a 3rd pairing D. But I do think Trotz loves Alzner and I would think he'll be back in if healthy. To be honest Schultz should probably be in before Orpik. But you know, grit and intangibles I guess. |

Here is a link to Doms work if you ever want to check it out. Or check other teams game scores. I like stuff like this because it's a quick way to get an idea of how well a player on a team you might not watch often is. Like a team like Vancouver or Arizona. But it's still cool to see any teams numbers imo. |

Enough cannot be said about the job MacLellan has done revamping this team after the McPhee era. After that Forsberg debacle, he's managed to acquire Oshie, Williams, Shattenkirk, Winnik and Eller and sign Niskanen while giving away Laich, some spare nuggets and a bunch of picks. Sure there have been misses (penner, gilbert, orpik), but on the whole, this team has turned a corner from where McPhee left. (I guess it also helps in the emergence of burakovsky and kuznetsov) |

Yeah, people that are saying this is their last shot, don't have a clue lol they'll have some roster spots to fill, but they already have the best pieces locked in for more years, Ovi, Backstrom, Holtby, Nisky, Carlson, Orlov is RFA, Kuzy and Burakovsky both RFAs... there's no reason to think this team won't be contending for the next 5 years at the least. |

THe Washington defence is some super elite unit narrative is what really has to die. Shattenkirk is an overrated power play specialist the Blues were fine getting rid of. Niskanan is an average second pairing dman who is decent at everything but elite at nothing. And Carlson is maybe the closest they have to a true 1D but would you trade a healthy Letang for him? I wouldn't. And no Hagelen this year is not ideal but we didn't have Guentzel last year. Not having Murray is the only thing that really could hurt. MAF has been good but if he falls apart..........I don't want to think about it. - Dcoms
When people say poop like this, and then conclude along the way that Carlson is better than Niskanen, it's pretty clear you have no idea what you're talking about. |

You mean Schmidt? Yes, Trotz loves Alzner.
Although, Trotz just indicated in his last interview that when Alzner is healthy, it doesn't necessarily mean he has a spot. |

It's pretty funny to watch the sports networks, and read the online journalism concerning the upcoming game. You would swear that Washington is destined to sweep, they are the next dynasty, and Pittsburgh is just plain lucky to be in the second round. It isn't even objective or broken down with rational thought. It's just "this is it" and the Caps are going to dominate. I'll give the capitals their due for what they did in the regular season, and they have a good team, but come the hell on. These clowns aren't even trying to analyze the game properly or make realistic projections. It's just King Arthur coming to claim his kingdom, and Pittsburgh is lucky to even be in the same conversation. It's ridiculous and unnecessary drama. |

I think that's a bad idea, my self. I'd let Ovi take his shots, half of them miss the net anyway. Oshie, Backstrom, Mojo/Williams....very deadly in that triangle. |
