Maybe I am off here, but why do so many people think Ghost is replaceable and should be traded?

I would also say that while the topic is on a 1C, I think the real issue is there is not been a really good left wing on the first line.

Make Gostisbehere a LW . . . problem solved. I'm actually not opposed to that crazy idea I have seen floated about.

Maybe I am off here, but why do so many people think Ghost is replaceable and should be traded? Who is coming up that has demonstrated his skill set with the puck on the blue line at the NHL level? I see a guy that would and will cause trouble for a team to defend against in the playoffs...he will continue to develop his defensive skill, but you can't teach what he does with the puck on his stick.

I would also say that while the topic is on a 1C, I think the real issue is there is not been a really good left wing on the first line. G is pass first...Jake to some extend as well. If you have a guy on that line that can bury the puck, G looks like a 1C when he is healthy...that I guess we will have to see next year if he bounces back. Shooting percentage wise they cannot be as bad across the board as they were this year.

I personally don't want to trade Ghost, but the topic comes up often. Mainly because we have Provy, Sanheim, Morin, Myers, Hagg etc. It's not that someone wants to trade him, but he could get us a solid forward in return. And when you have offensively gifted guys like Sanheim and Myers, who are also bigger and better defensively than Ghost, he becomes somewhat expendable to help another area out for our team. And I 100% agree with your second point about LW... I've mentioned before I would love to target a young LW like Drouin. Giroux has needed a 1LW for years.

I wouldn't look too much into it if I were you. There's a couple of "GMs" on this board that say we should trade (insert player here) and in return get a first line caliber player. They never specify who this mysterious first line player is and why the other team would give him up for our guy.

With that said, I'd trade Provorov for a 1C and a 2nd pair Dman.

I'd say next summer look to make a big move. One more year to sort out the young blue line.

Yeah I'm not in any rush to make one. I rather give the core and all one more season before making a big move. I'd Like to see the impact the new guys will have throughout the roster. Plus, another full season for these guys could improve their value for the time to make that big move.

The best defenseman in Flyers history spent the first several years of his pro career on LW.

Haha, that is one trippy, awesome show!!

Basically, Farouk/Lenny which has been residing in David was not killed, but instead managed to get in Oliver's head. I can't wait to see where they go with season 2.

Yeah, i got that the Shadow King is now in Oliver, but I meant the orb/ball thing at the end.

Sounds like the better solution is to put Raffl on defense

The better solution is to put Raffl on the Golden Knights roster or waive him.

Name one defenseman who was able to translate his game to a forward and have success? There's a ton that can do the opposite (Burns and Byfuglien currently), but I can't think of any who have gone from offensive defenseman to big point producing forward,

And as of right now, Sanheim, Myers, Morin, and Hagg have produced a combined zero points in the NHL.

It was too good. Everything was (sort of) solved, aside from Oliver driving to who knows where, and all of a sudden this big ball just pops up and traps him...

...and Sid just does nothing? Maybe Lenny's still hanging out in there, too? She was able to be inside of both David and Sid at the same time, why not Oliver and Sid?

Right, but most cliffhangers are of the "Did they make it?" or "Did he die?" sort. Not many are of the "What the hell is that magic ball that came out of nowhere and how did it trap him inside?" sort.

Burns did do it.

http://www.mercurynews.co...r-30-years-or-maybe-ever/

One season after a back injury, McLellan moved Burns to forward so that he would avoid the crunching forecheck hits defensemen often absorb. Burns eventually returned to defense but his former coach thinks there was a carryover.

“I really believe that his year at forward helped him in what he’s doing now,” McLellan said. “I think it gave him a sense of where forwards are going to be as receivers, where they can tip pucks or redirect them. You can see him aiming at those receivers.”

Red Kelly did it, but now we're going back to the 60s

Greg Hawgood played both D and LW, but excelled at neither. Reutsaleinen (yeah I'm sure that's spelled wrong) was able to play D and wing in the 80s.
That's about all I can think of

Edit: forgot about Burns and WPG has done it with Buff

Yes, but the started out as a forward. He wasn't always a defenseman who changed to forward at the NHL level.

Yes, but both of them broke into the league as forwards. Ghost has been a defenseman since at the least his Union days.

He played D for his first 7 seasons in Minnesota. You can see from his ATOI numbers when he was playing D.

The first 3 I mentioned all started as Dmen, but I can't recall any in recent years.
