I hope the Rangers PP comes around . Would be nice to make the Sens pay for any cheap poop . Also the Sens pp will be better than the offensive challenged Habs so the Rangers can't take dumb penitlies

gotta keep their sticks down, some of those penalties in last game were cringe worthy

Nice write up Jan. Completely agree on your opinion of Clarke MacArthur being a potential X-factor. Since his return, the line with him, Brassard and Ryan have been the defacto top line.

If I counted correctly, 17 picks in favor of the Capitals. That's quite a lot for a team that's never been past the 2nd round. Feels like it's now or never for them.

I like the Caps as well, but I am really not sure about that one given their history. I actually feel like the first round may have been good for them.

Habs were considered favorites yes. Mostly because people expected Lundqvist's play to remain what it had been all season.... which was very MEH compared to how he played in the playoffs (Damn you, you beautiful bastard!)

I don't see why anyone thought the Bruins, without half their blueline. Would get past the Sens.

They did give them a run for their money though.

You're probably right. It was interesting to see the Leafs speed attack the Caps defenders. Should expect more of the same with the Penguins.

There does seem to be a bit of a consensus that the Stanley Cup final is being played in the Metro division between the Caps and Pens. I may agree that there is where the smart money lies, but if the Rangers can get out of this series, all they have to do is win one series where they are considerable underdogs. I'll take it from my perspective.

But, first things first, have to beat a very good Sens team.

if the Rangers are going to win the Cup, this was the exact formula that it has any chance of happening.

finishing 3rd in the division and having to beat Pittsburgh first and then Washington was gonna be virtually impossible.

It's why I was imploring people to settle down about losing in shootouts in February and March.

Not sure how thats possible when you need a team from the east and a team from the west.

7 With Ovie and Sidney beating themselves to a pulp and wearing each other down so that the winner bascially limps out of the series

They are completely different players, but the rangers did a very good job of handling Weber. He scored the game they were awful so I'm not even counting that lol. He it a post late in game 4, couple of assists, got only a handful of shots off really...my point is, if they can shut down Karlsson (which will be harder to do imo) like they did Weber, it would go a long way to success this series. Not breaking any ground here, just saying they are capable of taking away a teams best player. Brass scares me like everyone else, but Mika probably scares them over there too. Something tells me rangers in 4 or 5, they just look and feel different. Maybe I'm cray 😜

I just don't quite understand that thinking. No matter what the format if the Pens/Caps are truly the best teams they would have had to meet at sometime before one of them gets to go to the SCF.

Personally, I don't think much of the Caps. Look at all their early exits after a fantastic regular season.

If Letang and Murray were healthy I wouldn't even give the Caps a chance. But I really think the loss of Letang hurts them in the long run.(Obviously, he's a great player)

Thanks for the Shoutout Jan!

I remember how frustrating the Rangers first game vs Ottawa was this year. Their 1-3-1 completely stifled the Rangers offense and gave a blueprint to other teams as to how to slow them down. Hopefully the coaching staff is hard at work showing players film and pointing out what to look for as they come up ice and what their options are to get through and gain entry into the offensive zone with control of the puck.

If that means softly flipping the puck into #65's corner all series long and punishing him / beating him into submission, then so be it, but they have to learn how to take what is available and not try to force things.
