Only 103 players scored 50 or more points last year.
Not every player, even good ones, end up getting 50+ points... - Scabeh
Fair enough, but that's not to say in 3-5 years that they won't get 50+ points |

Manson is exactly what we need - he's litterally 99.9th percentile in shot suppression ability in the league amongst D. He plays very well with Lindholm, and would look great alongside either Rielly or Gards.
Fun fact - Shattenkirk is 95th percentile in shot suppression.
If we could get both and run something like this:
Rielly - Shat
Gardiner - Manson
Warm body - Zaitsev
...then we would be absolutely (frank)ing set on D. - lumlums
I have no interest in Shat at 7 million for 6 or 7 years. No way.

sign Jumbo Joe if hes is healthy and trade Bozak for some D help (Marincin out)
Lou can also figure out how to get Kovalchuk from NJ.
Sign another D to replace Polak
win cups - senstroll
thornton might be a little slow to play with jvr and marner....definitely wouldn't give him more than 1 year.
i'm not opposed to kovalchuk. 2 years, 6M.
i say offer sheet schmidt from Wash. should only cost a 2nd/3rd round pick for a $2Mish contract. |

I would rather see Salming make a come back and play D than ever see Marincin again |

I have faith in Lou Lams and the Shanaplan.
Also, I want to learn an instrument and start a band with that name. |

Thornton needs both ACL and MCL operations.
I think he just might retire.

Since NJ has to sign him first and then they can trade him.
I'd guess 3 yr, deal at $17.5M |

I think Joe would be fine, provided he is back to 100%
He is a good player and doesnt have to be zipping around the ice like a water bug to be effective

If he goes back to NJ doesn't he get his salary from the contract he signed there? |

I could see the Devils trying to stick it to him, so to speak. After the B.S stunt he pulled. |

He's a 40 ish year old with a torn ACL - for a guy his age that's probably a 12 month post-op recovery. He's done. |

On the flip side, it's unlikely Andersen starts the year as bad as he did last year, and if they re-sign Mac, then a back-up start won't be an automatic L. - Feeling Glucky?
That is true as well.

You could expect his goals total to be cut in half.
Which makes it like.... 3 goals in a season! (2 of them empty netters). |

I'd prefer less, but sometime you have to give up more, whether in cash or in assets, in order to make it happen.
Plus a successful Leafs = significantly more hockey-related revenue for the league = Higher salary cap to fit in guys like Shat... |

How are the Leafs supposed to make more money when they were already sold out and selling plenty of jerseys while sucking for the last 10 years? |
