really nothing to worry about... Leafs cap situation is excellent.... just hoping that they don't succumb to pressure and chase a Shattenkirk at 6M$+ for a long term contract
...

here's hoping that the Marlies have a strong playoff and Rychel amongst others show that they may be ready for NHL spot coming season

would have to think that amongst Kapanen, Leivo, Rychel that there's an approach to replacing JvR... assuming he's used in some form of trade....

- BorjeFan4Ever

@$6m he'd be Ok I think...I think he'll get more though.

Emelin could a good combination in a douche-bag 3rd pairing with Polak... .kill penalities.

The Turtleneck offends me...

- BorjeFan4Ever

I'd rather just let the Habs melt down then help them fix it.

I wouldn't give him 6M.

I wouldn't want him on my team.

He's not the first pairing defenseman you're looking for.

I think I'd throw up in my mouth if the Leafs acquired the Turtleneck. I was thinking more

Emelin +2nd for Marincin (which would be worth it to guarantee that Marincin never plays for the Leafs again)

- BorjeFan4Ever

Why would the Habs trade a physical, overpaid 3rd pairing defenseman and a 2nd for a waste of skin like Marincin?

Price told the media yesterday that he understands his contract will affect the team's capacity to bring in other good players and that negociations will take that into account.

He's awesome.

although I think they'll do that anyway... Price goes to 9M+ contract, they'll sign Radugod for 7M and resign Markov at 5M+.... and still not address their lack of scoring.

Unless you meant to type "winner" I disagree about him being a fit.

to make contract room for resigning Markov, re-upping Price and for the inevitable 6M+ that RaduGod will get

Markov won't get a raise. If anything he'll keep the same contract for 2 more years. Price will take a small paycut and be paid around 8M and Radulov deserves every penny of that 6M. (a 250k raise)

In a year, Plekanec and Emelin's contract are up, which frees up around 10M for the team.

Habs are not in the "dreadful" situation people seem to picture them in. Things are far from perfect but they should be fine if they don't make mistakes.

You would think Bergevin is smart enough not to give Radulov a long term deal.. I think he should be offered a 2 yr, $12M deal

Out of all the crazy contracts given last year, Radulov was one of, if not the best UFA signing of last summer.

Refusing him a long term contract of 5 years is basically telling him to "(frank) off" which would be completely foolish.

I don't think they're in a dreadful position, just not nearly good enough to win a cup. I also don't know much about their prospects outside of McAaron or whatever and Sergachev ( ) so that means it's either weak or I try to at least pretend it is

The 12 3rd liners you keep playing aren't helping

You're not wrong about that part.

Aside from Sergachev and, to a lesser extent, Juulsen.... the prospect pool is pretty dry in terms of players that could help the team in the next 2 years.

We'll see how it goes I think amateur scouting has been mediocre since 2009 for the Habs.... I used to defend Timmins considering he's the one who drafted Price, Pacioretty, Mcdonagh (RIP), Subban.....

But since 2010, none of our first rounders have become an impact player, even Galchenyuk has become a question mark.... at some point if the young guys drafted by the team can't help out the big club, we can't compete in the long run.

Oh.... Lekhonen is pretty good.

Pacioretty, Radulov, Gallagher, Galchenyuk, Lekhonen are more than 3rd liners. Byron too maybe? Meh.

You're not far off from reality for the rest.

Fast as they come and scored 22 goals. Lots of them being important goals.

I'm just giving him credit for it.

They're all Meh. Pacioretty scores goals. Radulov got 18. Lekhonen too early to tell and Paul Byron?.

Honest answer: I don't know.

Simmonds is an odd player in a couple respects. He is wickedly fast, but only in a straight line. He doesnt move laterally well at all. (Have you ever seen one of his breakaways? Hilarious). He's one of the best net front guys in the league, which he needs to be because he doesnt have much of a wrist shot. He was used on the PK last year.. was so-so at it. He's not huge, but he's really tough to knock off the puck, and to move from the front of the net. He doesnt really create his own chances, but he definitely is a finisher.

I really don't know what his value is in terms of assets coming back. I do know that a lot of the armchair GM's on the Flyers board are hot to trade Voracek, Giroux, and Simmonds... tank... and draft McDavid, Eichel, AND Matthews.
