Like to see him be the shooter on another line...I want Matthews to be the guy on that line.

Hyman/Matthews/Marner
Komarov/Kadri/Nylander
JVR/Bozak/Brown
Sosh/Boyle/Leivo/Martin

- Garnie

That could work too. I really like the chemistry Nylander and Matthews have, but Marner and Matthews were pretty dynamite together as well in their short stints.

Bolded line becomes very bleh without Marner though

I would re-sign him for a year for a couple of mill. Good depth defenceman and good team guy.
- Matthews_Auston

I do hope they resign him.
Need a little sandpaper on the back end.

... toilet paper is much better for the backend.

Agreed, Marincin, Carrick and Marchenko were weaker than 1-ply toilet paper

Ya maybe, Browns pretty responsible defensively...that's all JVR and Bozak really need anyways...plus Brown can score when given the chance.

McDavid was -24 in his first year with Erie.

With this in mind, can we please stop using +/- when trying to have a reasonable hockey debate?

- lumlums

No... we must retain these tools so that player's contributions can be totally misrepresented as and when its necessary!

Hold on...

So are we re-signing him or resigning him?

So confused.

The challenge is with Price's contract, Plekanec's contract, Shea Webber's contract and needing to re-sign Radulov, it will be hard to fit good players into that team due to cap reasons.
- PatC80

Leafs should help the Habs out.... take one of their crappy contracts for a pick or prospect.

If applicable:

James Mirtleā€ @mirtle 3m3 minutes ago

Polak says he'll be fine in time for next season.

James Mirtle @mirtle 27s27 seconds ago

Polak said he immediately told the trainer "it's broken" when he was on the ice. "I felt it crack."

- lumlums

actually somewhat good news... breaks/fractures heal much more quickly (typically) than torn ligaments, etc.

Good idea, it would probably be Plekanec.

Plekanec and a first for the rights to Ben Smith, lol

really nothing to worry about... Leafs cap situation is excellent.... just hoping that they don't succumb to pressure and chase a Shattenkirk at 6M$+ for a long term contract
...

here's hoping that the Marlies have a strong playoff and Rychel amongst others show that they may be ready for NHL spot coming season

would have to think that amongst Kapanen, Leivo, Rychel that there's an approach to replacing JvR... assuming he's used in some form of trade....

Leivo doesn't seem destined to be a Leaf. He's in the same boat as Corrado.

I wouldn't be disappointed if he remained exposed and was picked up by Vegas and got a shot there.

I think I'd throw up in my mouth if the Leafs acquired the Turtleneck. I was thinking more

Emelin +2nd for Marincin (which would be worth it to guarantee that Marincin never plays for the Leafs again)

Turtlenec is useless aside from the game tying goal he had in game 2

The Cowen situation is a small price to pay to escape Phaneuf's contract duration!....

and the Lupul situation is unique ... and its coming to its natural conclusion (fortunately)... and Lupul will have made his money.

Emelin's cap hit is $4M, Turtleneck is at $6M plus Emelin is always gets suspended. Think we would get more tied to the turtleneck

you're likely correct... I just believe its a waste... he could be effective 2nd/3rd player... and if they could use JvR in a deal... I believe Leivo deserves a shot... he's been a good soldier

He had 54 points last year and 60 the year before that. It doesn't blow my mind but still the term is a bad move considering his age too.

Emelin could a good combination in a douche-bag 3rd pairing with Polak... .kill penalities.

The Turtleneck offends me...

if the habs picked up 50% of emelin's salary, i'd be interested. might be other better options out there though.

if we could ltir turtleneck, i'd look at that. no chance if not.
