You want a 1st for a 4th and take back an extra 2 million? Plus you're then giving them someone Van has to play against.
- manvanfan

if LA wants to rid itself of a bad contract. Why would we give back a 2nd? mov cup less than 1 rd and take on multiple years of gabby? no thanks.

Only something id look at if it was 2018. As someone else mentioned. but even then. no thanks. too much term left.

I can't disagree with your opinion, I just haven't seen a team do it yet. I saw Ari move up 4 spots for 1 year on Dat's.
Ari got a 11th OA pick for a 2nd and 3rd in different years.

Hossa and Gaborik are still serviceable players.

During googling just realized that Connor Carrick and Zach Hyman were both traded for. I thought they were drafted by Toronto.

Toronto only has 7 drafted players on their team this year. 5 of them were top 10 picks.

Hossa is a serviceable player on a NMC clause.
Gaborik was once a serviceable player, who is often hurt or H-scratched. Datsyuk only had 1 year left on his contract when he was traded as well didn't he?

So anybody willing to entertain the idea of taking on 1 bad contract for the season? I have a couple idea's for you! Man i'm a nice guy.

Okay so just to recap. Dave Bolland and Lawson Crouse for a 3rd and 2nd in the next season. Crouse was the 11th overall pick. Dave Bolland has 3 years left on his contract.

Pavel traded to Ari for 16th pick for the 20th. 1 year left on contract.

So onto my options.
Option 1
Marion Gaborik. 4 years left at 4.85. LA 1st and Gaborik for Van's 2nd. A move up of almost 20 spots for Van.
Back to back 20 point injuried riddled seasons for Gaborik.

Option 2
Marian Hossa. 4 Years left at 5.275. Hossa and Chi 1st and 5th for Van's 2nd
Hossa around the 40 point mark the past 2 seasons.

Hossa will retire with the Hawks, please go back to Be a GM Mode and stop destroying our salary.

Not that it really matters, this team will be awful next season.

- Marwood

No way man...with Foote and Juolevi and Boeser dressing every night we are set. Plus a bounce back year from Eriksson...MAGMA Chappoo on the 4th line...Edler Tanev in the 1-2 slot...

Everyone wants the Canucks to develop young players yet understand we are still going to be bad for the next 2-3 years (when I say bad I mean bottom 5-10 bad) and yet people are still mad that Green is going to be HC as if it actually matters lol

Yeah so 4 spots 1 year.
Arizona taking (11OA Crouse) for the 2nd would mean moving up 27 spots but they had to add a 3rd in this season. Bolland being a completely unusable player. Bolland had 3 years left at 5.5.

Gaborik at 4.875 has 4 more years. So not adding in a 3rd, moving up 20 some spots.

I don't care who the coach is as much as I don't want to see it become a carousel.

What do you purpose we do when 14 million comes off for the Sedin's? Sign John Tavares because he's going to come to a losing team?

I think Green is honestly a short term coach anyway. Until we start to put together a respectable roster and the Sedins/Edler are gone, this team won't change much. If he brings a bit more excitement to this team, and deploys the kids more and the Sedins less, its a win by my books, even if we lose lol.

to be fair, he has more incentive to sign in VAN than he does on long island lol. The Arena is absolute garbage, their owner/GM is an idiot. I get the respect he has for the organization, but could you blame if he chose to sign elsewhere?

yep. best case, he grows with this team. if not, well we don't wanna win for a few more years anyway. I'm happy with this.

Nice out the box thinking! I'd take Gaborik with LA's higher draft position and if they don't want to give up a 2nd it would have to be a good prospect in their system.

Not based on Green's ability, but I have a hunch we will see another coach before the team sees the playoffs

I think you are exactly right. I don't think he is being brought in to take this team into the playoffs, yet that will be the exact words that will spew from Benning and Linden.

They were submitting arena plans around Belmont as of a couple weeks ago. They will get a new arena soon enough, I think he stays there

Probably a 3 year deal where they can him after 2 more losing seasons

That way the new GM & president can bring in their own head coach.
