The next Ryan Sittler
- jmatchett383

Unlike Lamarche, before he was seriously injured, Sittler was actually a very good NHL prospect. Lamarche, OTOH, is a good ECHL Dman.

FWIW, here are my 2nd round predictions:

EAST
Ottawa vs NY Douchebags
There is something about this Ottawa team that I just really like. Karlsson is a just a beast and Anderson is the feel good story of the year. Hell, even Bobby Ryan is earning his contract! It won't be easy, but I'm picking Ottawa in 7

Caps vs Crosby's crybabies
This is where the loss of Letang will bite them. The Pens are a helluva team, but so are the Caps and the Pens won't be playing without any pressure whatsover like the Leafs were. It will be a war, but I'm going with the Caps in 7.

WEST
Anaheim vs the McJesus Express
I give full props for the Oilers knocking off the experienced Sharks, but I think it ends here. Anaheim is playing their best hockey of the year at just the right time. Ducks in 6.

St. Louis vs Nashville
Nashville is finally healthy and they are very good team. St. Louis was able to get the Wild off their game, but they will have a much harder time doing that to Nashville. Nashville is just a deeper and, IMO, better. Preds in 6.

After my round 1 with a final grade of F I'll abstain.

It's not that they're a bad team, it's that most people had written Rinne off and about a month and a half ago, both were considered outsiders to even make the playoffs.
- jmatchett383

Yeah, true. Though a lot of folks had written off an aging Mike Vernon going into the 97 playoffs, and we all, sadly, know how that ended up.

It's sad that about 1/2 of those names wouldn't shock me if they were called at the NFL draft.

"With the 14th pick in the NFL Draft, the Philadelphia Eagles select from...THE...Ohio State University, Jacamalyn-D'mirthga Smith."

I had:
EAST
Caps over Leafs
Habs over Rags (really thought this could go either way)
Pens over CBJ
Sens over Bruins

WEST
Hawks over Preds (as did pretty much everyone)
Blues over Wild (the Wild really struggled down the stretch and I had no confidence in them)
Ducks over Flames
Sharks over Oilers (this was the other one that was really tough to pick)

So, overall, I went 5-3, but the only one that really surprised me was the Preds crushing the Hawks. I could see an upset, but never thought that Chicago would go out so easily.

Well then, after what happened this fall, perhaps Joe Sakic gained some extra years?

I don't follow college football very closely, so I haven't heard of most of the NFL's top prospects, let alone the guys expect to go from the late first round on.

Mine were:
EAST
Caps over Leafs because they're just better.
Rags over Habs just to piss me off
Pens over CBJ because, again, they're just better
Bruins over Sens, I still think the Bruins were better.

WEST
Hawks over Preds, glad I was wrong
Blues over Wild, although it was a toss up, and who really cares about either team?
Ducks over Flames, see Caps and Pens
Sharks over Oilers, very tough to pick.

I am taking:
EAST
Rags over Sens, again, just to piss me off.
Pens over Caps, because it's the Caps and round 2.

WEST
Preds over Blues, just to piss me off that Shea Weber is gone.
Oilers over Ducks, because I told me coworker they'd beat Anaheim if they beat San Jose.

Why can't you follow it, there's only about 600 schools spread out over about 80 conferences.

True. However the fact that he could never regain his confidence after just one bad start makes me question if he ever had the mental toughness necessary to be an NHL goalie.
- BiggE

Thought same thing, very fragile if one bad start ruined him.

This kid Hart could win 3 in a row why not.
I think he is strong enough mentally to know that if he were to have a bad start in a playoff he won't be ruined.

my bracket (so stupid for the NHL to go to a bracket but whatever) had Rangers, Caps, Pens and Bruins. in the west I had Hawks, Blues, Ducks and Sharks.

I took the bold to be the same as THEE... either way that school has a huge stick up their ass against other schools if they have to have that emphasis. I mean are they really thinking they'd be confused with Ohio University or Miami of Ohio?
