starting in the offensive zone with an extra skater and playing 80 seconds is far superior to starting in the defensive zone with an extra skater and playing for 40 seconds. The 2nd unit often doesn't even have a chance to get set up in the zone.

I'll just accept this as the truth because finding evidence to contradict it will be too time consuming.

Congrats, the Sedins are super easily replaceable!

Although I agree the organization essentially resets when ownership is replaced...so how long has Aqulini owned the team? 11 years.

The slate ain't rubbed clean every time a new owner steps in. Assets are in place, they can turn into future assets if managed correctly. If done correctly there is a legacy to every player that's played for the organization. Unfortunately this organization has difficulty turning assets into future assets.

That would be an interesting path to follow though. I wonder who was the first canuck player to be traded for a return (other than money) and if a legacy to that trade can be followed.

I agree for the most part. That team was deep enough with little to no holes in the lineup should have been a way to get it done.

And I also agree that some of the thinking needs to change. 47 years and no cup. Maybe it's time to think a bit radically?

I think more than most teams our team is affected by schedule, travel, and injuries. They are going to have to find a way to mitigate those effects. Gillis tried some things but not sure if it really helped even though the team had their greatest success.

Is youth a way to mitigate injuries and fatigue? Maybe you have to go old school and have a traditional enforcer to protect your stars from wear and tare? I don't know but I think it needs attention from management.

for sure. I don't like Aquilini but he has certainly done a better job than McCaw. If Aquilini hadn't interfered in the team so much in the past we would be in a much greater position. Oh well, we could have a worse owner that's for sure.

80:40 does not = 3:2, but that's the kind of facts you deal in.

Yup, the trade that keeps on giving.

It looks to be on it's last legs though, barring an unforeseen event.

I just don't like it when people post BS to further their position. I take it you don't like being called out on it. To stick with your original math that's 60:40.

I mean you've already argued against yourself by saying we had nobody to replace Horvat in the top 6.........

A fair point to be sure as the Nucks are consistently amongst the leagues worst in sched, travel times and injuries.

Youth is a way to limit injuries and fatigue but the downside is inexperience/development. I am a proponent of an enforcer that can play not the Dummies of the world. I think it's an absolute must even in today's NHL.

Trade trees are fascinating to follow. This one isnt completely up to date, as they flipped Martin Jones to SJ, but interesting from a Canuck perspective:

They dressed 3 guys against us in the finals they acquired from Neely.

Talk about a trade biting you in the ass.

what are you going on about now? I said the 2017 Sedin's are easily replaceable. At no point did I say we have sufficient depth. Also, I'll stick with 72/48 as most power plays have 120 seconds

If we don't have the depth to replace them then they aren't easily replaceable are they? Maybe we haven't hit rock bottom?

more like a second line (Horvat), a 3rd line (Sedin's) a 4th line (Sutter) and a 6th line (Chaput). We suck
