Can't see it being all that difficult to pry Price out of MTL now...

Edler Tanev Gaunce should do it?

- LordHumungous

Add a Vancouver 2nd because you'll have to overpay.

He should, unless Anderson goes into one of his streaks.

He is the ultimate streaky goalie.

- golfingsince

True...if Anderson is on it will be a battle. Was more than impressed with Lundqvist outplaying Price however...never saw it comin tho.

Lundqvist had a great series (as well as NYR's defence). Now apparently the Habs are awful and Price/Weber should be traded? It's such nonsense, they are 1 goal scorer away from being a threat in the playoffs again. It's funny how quickly people jump off the Carey Price Bandwagon.
- Crazybagoham

Not sure why you picked this post to question the Habs being awful, it clearly said I posted this earlier in the year. I am not a fan of the Habs and have thought for years they were massively overrated. In my eyes, they have had excellent goaltending to cover a bad roster. They added that "1 goal scorer" in Radulov because they were one scorer away, didnt change the result

The Oilers nearly won a cup with Roloson playing outstanding and doubled-down on a bad roster, which began the 10 years of bottom-feeder. The Habs can keep putting bandaids on it, but without Price they are a bad team

Oh I know, its just hilarious habs fans are losing their minds when they got a bad first round matchup (rangers are solid).

If dark times are ahead for the Habs then the sun is about to disappear for the Canucks.
- golfingsince

the canucks have hit the bottom. 29th placed finish so no where to go but up. Plenty of teams like MTL, LA, SJ are going to start dropping down the standings.

Literally every NYR/MTL game was a 1 goal game.... so yeah all MTL needed was one guy to figure out Lundqvuist. They just need depth, like every other playoff contending team. Why trade away these valuable pieces in their prime and create a hole, when they could just pick up a few guys from Free agency, get GalchenYUCK in order, and they certainly could compete with any team.

This Has team is MUCH better than the 06 oilers, so I don't really know why you use them as a comparison. All they need is a proper top line centre, and maybe a couple more 3/4 defensemen and they are a contender. If you think differently, you've never watched Price/Weber play.

you think he will drop so low though? He's been one of the top scouted d men consistently all year, I don't see him dropping below #10.

No, I was exaggerating when I said he will drop to 33 but I do think he will drop out of the top 10. The other big surprise may be Patrick not going in the top 2.

Living through the past 10 seasons as a canuck fan it's obvious there are two seasons. At the beginning of the season a GM has to decide which season they build their team for. Like the 2010/2011 canucks, Montreal built their team for regular season success. They are not a well built team for playoff success.

They tried to retool their team at the TDL to be more playoff ready but those additions didn't work out. As Carol mentioned in her blog, those late additions rarely do. Last years Pens team being the outlier.

Apparently he's made of glass, this draft is going to be wacky. Only guaranteed top 3 is Nico, but I honestly don't know if a team would draft him 1oa

Rock bottom will be when the twins retire. The canucks have nothing in their system right now that can replace both of them. That is a huge hole to fill even with their declining skill set.

That 2011 Nuck squad was so good there should have been no issues snagging that cup that year. They played through most of the adversity of the Lou chokes and Gary's refs and such but for whatever reason it wasn't meant to be. And when Rome took out Horton, Bettman and Campbell had all the leverage they needed.

The 2017 Sedins can be easily replaced. The 2011 Sedins can't be.

In 2015-2016 when Price went 10-2 before getting hurt, they finished 38-38-6 putting them 22nd in the league.

This year, when Price had a stretch after Christmas where he was putting up average numbers, the team did poorly (and cost the coach his job). I really dont know what other evidence you need to show that he's carrying the team and they lack substance in the other positions.

I only brought up the Oil because of the methodology behind it. They think they are closer than they are. They have too much money tied up into bad players, they are thin on depth and were fortunate this year to have Radulov pick them, and lucky Byron put up nearly his entire career total in goals in a single season at age 27. As Price goes, they go which isnt ever going to get them a Cup IMO

Bo and Boeser can't fill that hole? Then we worry about building back 3-4 line scoring.

I've seen him drop on a bunch of prospect lists - Heiskanen, Makar, Valimaki and Foote could all potentially go before him. And Depending on which teams need D, Detroit, Dalls, Buffalo, New Jersey are all potentials. So he could easily drop out of the top 10.
Personally, from what I've watched of him, I don't get the hype, he looks like Stecher to me.

Yup.

I'd hate to be the coach of that team cuz with the twins gone him and Edler will be getting all the blame.
