They deferred the pick to detroit last year. Det will get Tor 2017 3rd and NJ will get 2018 3rd from Tor. Personally i think it was a stupid rule to give up a pick for a coach/gm that is fired.

Neither was fired. Babcock was still under contract with wings. His contract was ending but not up yet. The wings gave him permission to speak to other teams. The leafs were happy to give up the pick because who knows if another team would have upped their offer if given more time to think.

Lou was still the active team president. It is obvious he was force to give up the GM title. I think the Devils thought that at his age he would have been happy to stay on as president. Obviously they were wrong.

Saddest moment ever now as a Sabres fan that people have to bring Kim Pegula in to be the new whipping boy (girl).

While watching NHL network, I saw a sign outside of the ACC that said, "I just want both teams to have fun". That made me chuckle.
