Lombardi as president sure, not as GM.

Hell of a bio..you think Franson is that good? Also, anyone else want to offer sheet David Pastrnak? I doubt the bruins could match depending on how you structure it

The amount it would cost, would hinder this team moving forward.

I don't see a huge surge in the salary cap to make it work unless a lot of money is freed up this summer.

Very good player but we have other issues we may need to get handled first. I'm guessing if we do that it will come back to haunt us.

The Klesla favor would have freed up Ennis most likely but now everything is different with new GM in the works. I just want pastrnak to leave the bruins like what happened to Seguin. I would only go after him in Buffalo is Okposo wasnt coming back but he seems better according to KB and others

They proposed this on NHL Network radio: go 1 through 16, except the top seed gets to pick its opponent, then the 2 seed, 3 seed, etc.
- buffalofan19

Would be cool, but I doubt the NHL would ever even consider it.

Especially if the 1 seed picked a team from the opposite conference. It would make travel/TV/etc. difficult.

Let me preface this by saying as much as it pains me...i'm well aware the leafs have the talent to be a great team going forward....

...but now that teams have has a chance to see them play a full season..expect the sophomore slump

Why is that expected? Eichel didn't have one

ok so matthews doesn't have one....doesn't mean the rest of the leafs won't....you honestly think teams are gonna fail to adjust next season and let the leafs fly up and down the ice like they had the luxury of doing this year

Depends on what they do in the offseason but I see them as adding a few pieces to remain pretty solid even if the numbers dip a bit for most players...then again its heavily rumored they want Franson to come in and fix their issues over someone like Polak

They have the speed, so I don't know why that would be an issue.

If anything I think it's Matthews scoring less goals. But probably being a better all around player.

I heard gmtm got drunk and called Kim the C word and had to beg to keep his job short into his tenure. I'm not saying that's what really happened, but I think it's pretty clear he was fired because he's a little too free wheeling for the pegula's taste, and also might be too much of a riverboat gambler for them asset wise. I had faith he was going to straighten it out, but also things considered, especially with the people that own the team, I could see patience being thin and not wanting to leave to chance.
- FIREonICE

Actually what happened is he got drunk and started hitting on her.... yeah that's it.

So Babcock wouldn't adjust to that? Come on man. I know you hate the Leafs ... I get it ... I hate the Sabres too. But to say the league is going to adjust to a team and that team is going to fall in the standings is ridiculous. They had all year to adjust why would they wait until next year?? I am sure they are going to address the blue line and that alone will make them better.

thats the whole thing.
if you entertain a bunch of yahoos who dont know what they're watching with pitbull songs and free t-shirts, they'll have a blast like they're at a party.
You want to see the Sabres arena get loud and rowdy?
Win more.
No one gives a crap in Buffalo if you're playing some rappers hottest new slammin track when the team has 9 shots over 2 periods and didnt score for the last 2 games before that. People in some of those markets are easily entertained by pop culture. People in serious hockey markets go to see their team win or try like hell to win.

Things do change in this league year to year ........... look at the Isles and Panthers. But you are correct ...... the Leafs are going to very good for quite some time. I've got no problem with it.

why, they hung with the best team in hockey and most games were a coin toss

I would not be shocked if they overtook the habs and win the division next year

That's why i'd let all the UFAs walk. The mix clearly wasn't right this year. Time to try something different. Also, at the risk of sounding alarmist, we need a GM ASAP. There's a lot of moving parts this summer starting in like 60 days.

ditch the ufa's and dead weight and slowly start adding the right pieces. maybe they're available this off season, maybe next year at the draft.

Its not like we were on the cusp and then fell apart. If they want to take one year to change personnel and get used to a new and effective system while adding another high pick im on board.

Just dont be boring

Nah, no way. Usually I'd say yes but they seriously can't waste 3 years of Jack Eichel and ROR's prime.

They need to go for preseason while adding a piece for the future on D

if they can find the pieces that give them that then go for it. I dont know whats out there that will allow them to do that.

id rather waste a year then add yet another mediocre player or 5.

We won't be bad enough to get Dahlin.

They need to add a top 4 D man, sign a couple cost effective players on the wing, and compete for 3rd in the division/ WC spot.

A good GM can get it done.
