But the Marianos groceries would cost you about $133 Cdn.

Sage, I had to stop and think twice about this one.
Isn't that a circular argument?
Nevertheless, good one!

Any ideas as to who will be named Hogs coach?
- powerenforcer

Scott Powers‏ @ByScottPowers 3h3 hours ago

One potential coaching candidate for the IceHogs is Jeremy Colliton, according to a source. He coached in Sweden last season.

Although I gave up chasing tail a while ago, I often go in circles trying to chase my own.

But:

If Rick could buy a box of cereal for CDN$100 north of the border, and he's saying he could buy the same box of cereal for US$100 in Chicago (which may be correct), he would need to change his Looneys into Greenbacks, needing about Cdn$133 to get the US$100.

Believe Wayne bashed the Hawks on his way out, and Jim loves his tux on playoff nights and his gigantic rock.

Wayne was special....met him in 2004 at Wrigleyville bar. Bought him a drink. Great conversation.

- SteveRain

Wayne is GREAT guy. Backed him up musically in a gig about a year ago, super nice guy and as gracious a gentleman as could be. Talked to him about recovering from the gun shot -- unreal story. Would love to have him back instead of that clown Cornelisen.

You know, I have to share this picture I have now in my mind of Stan and Q:

In the boy's room -- dueling over the dividers.
If this doesn't seem like a classic case of pissing match . . .
I think Stan better watch out, I heard Q has been taking his prostate supplements.

One move that couldn't happen soon enough - Jim Cornelison for an audio tape of Wayne Messmer.

This would make me almost as happy as some major players being moved.

Always Trumps fault........

isn't in the mid $0.70s exchange rate usually where the Canadian dollar is? I seem to recall this, but figure you'd know a helluva lot better then me.

- SteveRain

I know some lumber producers in the Northwest and the UP of MI that are happy today. Been getting buried by low cost competition being subsidized by the Canadian government (technically not allowed by NAFTA). In this instance, the new admin probably made the right move... more of a shot across the bow. Abide by NAFTA or it may get tossed.

The point being $100 Cdn at a Canadian grocery store pretty much buys the same as $100 U.S. does in an American grocery store. So there are plenty of Americans living in border cities like Buffalo and Detroit that now cross the border to shop. Their $74 U.S. gets them groceries that would have cost $100 in a U.S. store like Krogers. I guess if they spend enough its worth it since it costs about $5 in bridge tolls each way.

Ha....love it.

I just think of McDonough as the tv owner in scrooged with Murray, who kicks his cat across the room while trying to call the booth.

I think Andrew Shaw would like to disagree with you.......or doesn't a guy passed in multiple drafts, drafted late not count?

I'm sure Eli knows many others.........

- SteveRain

Respectfully, no. Shaw wasn't there that long. For every Hartman, Dent has a McNeil and Pokka. Dent was overdue by years. How many defensemen has he developed in Rockford? Maybe the talent wasn't drafted for him? We will never know.

Kitchen may be the same statement. How many D men has the assistant coach in charge of defense nurtured at the NHL level since coming here?

What it says though is this organization has a real problem with dmen development and drafting. No young d men with top 4 potential. Forsling? Maybe, but probably not. Any of the Swedes left in Europe? Doesn't look like it. The Notre Dame kid Gilbert appears to have regressed this season. They haven't drafted any Brandon Carlo or C. Parayko type d men in the 2nd or 3rd rounds for many years.

They should be really looking at grabbing a guy like Todd Nelson or maybe Dall Eakins from San Diego- he has done a great job with d men the last few years. They should be looking at someone like Trent Yawney for the assistant coach job too. Someone who can mentor young d men like Yawney has done for years in Anaheim.

And they shouldn't ignore the draft failures at the position either.

I think the biggest issue is that the prospects they draft need a lot of seasoning and back in 2007-2010 that was possible. Now it seems all these kids are on the fast track and many never meet the expectations put on them by the team.

Ben Smith was a nice player down there....but many guys are either bottom 6 forwards, bottom pair D men, or have been sent off to acquire other assets.

Again, reading the trib article sounds like Dent was booted because of off ice problems more so then anything else.

You really have to determine how many WERE draft failures, and how many are lack of development once in the system. Yawney should get a lot of credit for developing Keith, Seabrook, Wisniewski and others. Plenty drafted high and have not made significant contributions in the NHL, Clendening, Olsen, LaLonde, Holl, etc. Draft failure or development failure?

Something just dawned on me:

Kitchen’s firing is likely to reignite conflict between Quenneville and the front office over coaching and personnel that existed before the 2013 and 2015 championships helped maintain peace in the organization.” Has been published in multipule sources.

I say great, if discord brought cups, then Fire Q's coaches every year... Seems like that is what it takes to get everyone's attention

Well, this is truly a bit off-topic but if you are a musician (I have a VG, well paying day job but hockey and music are my 2 loves) -- there is a saying about "playing for the song" (or in this case, singing for the song).

The national anthem is NOT ABOUT JIM CORNELISEN.

It's about pride of country, love of country -- or at least it's supposed to be, right?
It is NOT about Jim dragging his ass on the song so that poor Frank Pellico has no idea of what Cornelisen is doing with the actual tempo of the song.

Again, it's not about him -- but that is what over the years it has become.

It's frustrating as hell to watch or listen to it anymore.
In fact, I turn it off or simply put the game on when I'm sure the 1st puck has already dropped as opposed to listening/watching that spectacle.

It is truly an embarrassment to the org-an-I-za-tion!

I'm not quite sure what's going on right now, all I know is a lot of stuff being leaked to the press and I'm not sure it's all coming from the Bowman camp.

Blunt to McDonut it is all the traveling secretary's fault for not getting us larger suites in Nashville...fire him next.

He always has a source that spews worthless information. I just think he likes hearing himself say "My Source." Frankly since TB has departed the show sucks - and its Not Goff's problem. Oh and the 530 segment, What's On is a horrible time filler to further burn you ears during afternoon drive... Why do I care what any of them are watching. I do expect sports because lets face it, they are sports talk show hosts. So, what does the listener really derive from the segment...
