I just read that this devaluation of the Canadian dollar is a result of the timber tariff that Trump just imposed and that there might be a dairy tariff next. So, I guess that next year we can blame our lack of a left wing for Toews on Trump.
- Dieselhead

I guess so. That herd of 100 dairy cows we have in Canada is really pissing Trump off.

Always Trumps fault........

isn't in the mid $0.70s exchange rate usually where the Canadian dollar is? I seem to recall this, but figure you'd know a helluva lot better then me.

Dent was trash. He never took an ice hog prospect to another level. We haven't had a diamond in the rough in the pipeline in over a decade
- hawkeytalkman

I think Andrew Shaw would like to disagree with you.......or doesn't a guy passed in multiple drafts, drafted late not count?

I'm sure Eli knows many others.........

One potential coaching candidate for the IceHogs is Jeremy Colliton, according to a source. He coached in Sweden last season.

For all the peeps crying about the lack of player movement so far, I'm pretty sure Bowman can't do anything until after the playoffs have concluded.

Once he can start making moves, here is what I think needs to be done. 1. Move Seabrook's contract 2. Move Seabrook's contract 3. Move Seabrook's contract 4. Move Seabrook's contract.....................................

I'm glad you didn't tell him the REAL reason the club got swept without a whimper: the team order for their custom fit Bauer skates (inadvertently got shipped to KHL headquarters since they heard Artemi was heading back to the motherland after gaining his bonuses for the season).

I'm waiting for more spin on the sweep. How 'bout you?

I'm very accustomed to it where it is now.

For all of the worrying about the exchange rate, there isn't a big difference for example in the cost of groceries in Canada vs the U.S., in fact I think it's generally cheaper. If I spent $100 Cdn in our grocery stores and bought the exact same things in Marianos for example the total would come to about $100 U.S.

Gasoline is another matter - approx 20% higher here comparatively. Higher taxes at the pump.

Wine and liquor - cheapest prices anywhere are in Chicago IMO. Government steals us blind here. I bought 3 bottles of a lower priced Chardonnay in our LCBO for $14.95 / bottle and my wife said it was passable/drinkable. Walked into Binnys same bottle was on sale for $5.25. Box of 24 beers here are about $42.00. 1.5L bottle of cheap Schmirnoffs Vodka is usually $17 in Binny's; $58 here.

Never said all is well, but your conspiracy theories/ "inside sources"/ McDonough is meddling/ inter-office turmoil/ sky is falling/ bowman and Q are at odds/ nonsense that you been spewing for years is mind bogglingly stupid.
- biegs

McDonough is meddling=talon leaving. other gms not sure WHO is making decisions on trades.....
I
nter office turmoil/bowman and q at odds=did you read the articles from media members yesterday alluding to this dating back to 2012 when Smith was brought in?

sky is falling=cap hell....yet again. Or did you enjoy back to back 1st round exits.

So what part is stupid?

Reading is a skill chief.

You kill me.......I was waiting for Foley to break that out....wonder if he feels like a chump today knowing AA had a high ankle sprain and coulodn't be 100%. But dont' you worry....he gave it to that Russian to appease all his sheep during the game 4 telecast.

I can't wait to see what happens next here..........it's always fun this time of year.

Isn't the booze though a supplement for government run health care? So while you do pay higher at the register the health care is covered. At least that's the way my buddies wife (ON native) explained it to me.

So basically the jist is the $0.70ish exchange rate isn't out of the norm. Problem is the TV deal for NHL in US is pathetic, but the Canadian one is heavy dollars but doesn't resonate as high as originally thought when the exchange rate was tilted the other way.........

I'm all for blaming Trump for everything bad that happens for the next 20 years (and most of the bad of the LAST 20 years), but even I can't do it with this....

Wasn't that the first Nashville goal in game 3, when the puck bounced back off of the glass or stantion and Crawford had no idea where it was?

I knew you'd like that one. Almost expected Pat to bring that up or something similar (CCM's carbon fiber plant had a work stoppage and all the custom patterns were out of stock -- or some other similar b.s.)

Foley trashed 15 -- but at least there was some effort to get to the front of the net. However, the Russian that should have been trashed is good ol' Panarin. Talk about lack of heart/desire/will. If they traded him yesterday it wouldn't be too soon. I'll take a guy with less skill but more heart/desire (Andrew Shaw anyone?) who will actually show up when it matters.

I realize this is mostly jest, but I wonder if Q had any knowledge this was coming before it happened. I'm thinking Bowman didn't want to get into it with Q so he just went ahead with it.
- walleyeb1

Even with the (presumably) bad blood between the GM and the coach, I can't believe that Bowman wouldn't have at least informed (if not discussed) this with Q before pulling the public trigger.

One move that couldn't happen soon enough - Jim Cornelison for an audio tape of Wayne Messmer.

But the Marianos groceries would cost you about $133 Cdn.

HA.....I agree on all accounts.

All I kept thinking about is 15 really getting moved this summer during the last half of that game since Foley was going out of his way to routinely bash the hell out fo the guy who just came from injury being out 3-4 weeks and was clearly laboring......

Agreed on Panarin....he's a ME before WE guy. Guy blew his wad getting his bonus.

I was looking at cap friendly, and posted earlier....very curious to see what Bowman does. Firing Kitchen/Dent can't be it.....has to be some sort of roster shake up.

I would have loved to seen McDonough's face when Dent tweets about the Abbott trade, or sees the text Dent sent players about asking Bowman directly about roster decisions. Classic stuff........

Believe Wayne bashed the Hawks on his way out, and Jim loves his tux on playoff nights and his gigantic rock.

Wayne was special....met him in 2004 at Wrigleyville bar. Bought him a drink. Great conversation.
