Interesting that, at the worst, Toronto will match the Habs playoff performance. Considering we weren't supposed to make the dance at all while the Habs were expected to go deep, that really says something about how far the Leafs have come in a year.

It is one of the rare good times to be a Leafs fan.

The stars aligned for them this year. Fla and Tampa sucked. They were healthy all year, all their rookies contributed and the big 3 all had a great year. Kadri and Bozak had career years

I think we look for more progress next year. Hope there is no regression or sophmore slumps and better adherence to systems.

There should be a few roster changes, but I would not be surprised to see them hold on to JVR and make a call at the deadline. I guess it depends on what quality of Defense is available.

There is every chance that they regress a bit next year. It is 2018-2019 I am interested in. Auston Matthews 3rd year

It also says a lot about the habs. Where would they be without Price? Most of there forwards are 3 or 4th line players at best... Markov is almost done and soon Weber will be slow and an awful contract. They also have no elite prospects. They need to rebuild properly... don't wait like we did, or like Vancouver has. Just rip the band-aid off fast, get it over with...

The one thing I do find mystifying is that there are some guys there blaming Price. I can't agree on that at all.

Weber is already slow. Bozak had more points in the regular season than Radulov. Their D is arguably not better than ours. Sergachev could be a great Dman though, but it may take a while(?).

Damn right. Making the playoffs was so much more than we ever expected going into the season, and giving the Caps a good run for their money shows that we belong. Time to sure up the D and come back next year for a real run after a summer practising how to score in the goddamn shootout...

What really gives me a warm feeling in my groinal region is that at least on paper, next year will only get better.

We aren't losing anyone of significance: Boyle, McBackup and probably Polak.

But we are losing a boatload of dead weight.

Sophmore curse and injuries can hurt the upward projection, but even Vancouver fans can't fault me for being optimistic.
