As I mentioned in my other post, he has almost no NHL experience and even if he does pan out it'll well outside this teams "cup window".

Murray didn't have any NHL experience and he won the cup last year.
Yes they have Crosby and Malkin, but still, he played, he stopped the pucks, and he won the cup.

also true, nothing easier than to find a goalie.
Habs got Dubnik for peanuts a few years back and let him go.

My point is that with a better team up front, they won't rely as much on the goalie, and they will be much more entertaining to watch.
as for their winning percentage in the playoffs, tell me what the current strategie (of having the best goalie in the world) provided as results? could they do worst?

I get what you're saying, you just have less teams to trade with when dealing goalies. I don't think you'd get full value for him. You would with patches on a cheap contract

you have to keep asking though. you don't want to miss the one night a year the answer could be yes.

sure thing, not all teams are looking for a goalie.
I think MB will look at all the possible options to add a center, keeping Price with the Habs.
if he can't do it, then he should think trading his star goalie.

He has a brutal decision to make. Resigning him long term for close to 10 mil would almost guarentee no stanley cup for a while. But you can't afford to let him walk out the door for nothing.

I don't think neither will happen. I don't see him signing for that kind of money, 8x8 seems more likely.
and I certainly don't expect him to walk for nothing. no top ufa never does. last one was Richards 10 years ago.

Calgary would be a likely destination, they need a starter and have lower taxation thus lower salary needed to ink Price. Not sure what we'd get.

I know. I told one of their fans to stick around in this thread because we may have a goalie for them

Stamkos was close to walking for nothing. I'd imagine he will sign a deal in that ball park this summer tho

Do you guys think Bergevin will get the boot in the weeks ahead ? I wonder if the new GM will fire Timmins and Co and how that will affect our draft this year.

no, but if they can get a goalie without giving up sean monahan or johnny hockey, they would look at it.

if Burke can get Price, you can be sure he'll do everything he can to do so. that's exactly the kind of trade he likes.

Honestly I think they got lucky last year with match ups, but that's just me. Anyway, the odds that Lindgren would be able to replicate that even if they did Price for Tavares are very very small. So small I'd rather try this team again next year as (frank)ed as that sounds.

All depends on what he has to give up. If he has to give up 2 good players, I can't see them doing it.

of course, but at least they would be more exciting to watch. as for their chance of winning, I don't see how they could be worst. they're out in 6!

Thats the most likely scenario. "We feel with a full training camp with the new coaching staff, we have the team to compete for the stanley cup"
