Hey Todd,

I just want to say thanks for being the Flames blogger and you do a great job.

Agreed! Loved your frequent updates/blogs. Only complaint is you always seemed to post the wrong line-ups (likely just rehashing whatever line-up they went with the previous games). My suggestion would be to wait to post till at least the line-up is released via the team's site

Why would Bishop be the perfect fit? Elliott objectively had a better season than Bishop last year. Two years ago, they put up almost identical ridiculous stats in the regular season. Elliott was also the biggest reason the Blues made the West final last year and beat two teams they shouldn't have beaten in getting there. Fleury was awful in two games in his series, fighting the puck and giving up brutal rebounds, but it's forgotten because Bobrovsky was worse and Crosby is on his team.

Elliott clearly locked up the number one spot this year and was one of the better goalies in the entire league for the second half of the season. He was consistently solid from the middle of December to the end of the season. All of that shouldn't be forgotten because of a couple of bad games, especially when no one on the team played particularly well for the series.

I heard one of the radio guys make this argument....regardless of how his numbers were ok in the season, he blew it big time in the playoffs
The trust isn't there, its been broken...If we bring back Elliot, you might see a drop out of the playoffs like Dallas... they never made a change in net, the team had zero trust after their stellar regular season the previous year but in the playoffs neither showed capability to make the timely save

Same in our situation....Elliott with decent numbers when averaged out, but when it comes to the playoffs, you need a goalie that can reliably make the saves you need them too
his last 2 games were some of the weakest goals when you need your goalie to be even better than usual. I'd be very surprised if they brought him back

That's BS, and if the team is actually that weak mentally, they have no chance of winning no matter who's in net. You can blame Elliott all you want but he gave them a chance to win, and no one on the team stepped up in the series. They didn't score a single goal in the third period. Their powerplay was great, but they weren't generating anything 5 on 5.

Elliott was phenomenal in game one, and if they didn't have the worst line change in the history of the NHL, there's a good chance they win. First five minutes of game two was rough, but then he shut the door and was great the rest of the game. He made a ton of saves you need your goalie to make in the first two games. Game three was rough, but they still probably win if they had gotten the high sticking call right. Sure, it would've been nice if Elliott was better, but he still played well enough that they could have been up 3-0 if anyone at all had stepped up.

I guess we'll see what management does...
But it's not mentally weak, it's the truth that if you don't have confidence that your goalie can bail you out or make the timely save, you play differently in front of them.
The Dallas Stars are an example of this.... They didn't get that dramatically worse in front of the net and yet they had no confidence in their goalies...
