Am I crazy or was the first Bouwmeester penalty not a penalty? They were battling at the boards and the Wild player (don't remember who it was) tried to skate through his stick and went down. And the second Bouw penalty? Come on, there's been pushing and shoving all game long. |

Good teams win in spite of or irregardless of officiating. Frankly, they have played poorly since early in the 2nd, maybe even late in the 1st.
The officiating isn't why the game got tied up imho. |

St. Louis in the second round! Any one remember the creepy kids playing jump rope singing this
One, two, The Preds are coming for you.
Three, four, Better lock your door
Five, six, grab a crucifix.
Seven, eight, Gonna stay up late.
Nine, ten, Never sleep again.... |

This song as written is about Patrick Kane, not the team in Nashville. |

Mike Yeo was nothing but class in this series. Never drawing attention to himself or the fact that he was facing the team that canned him last year.
On the opposite end, Bruce Boudreau was a whiny, classless, chump from start to finish.
Looking forward to Nashville. |

What have your thoughts been overall in the series on Sobotka? - Jason Millen
As he has gone the rust has been going away. He shows escapability. He can still read a pk. Good speed. BUT, he is not showing himself as physical of a player as he was before. I don't see the big hits so much. |

Boudreau ought to be fired again. He cannot keep it together and that affects his team.
Anyone can bs themselves into believing a ton of shots equates into being valuable. Well one issue Florida ran into was a lot of shots and no scoring. If you do not read the advanced stats correctly then you will be blinded.
To pretend like the Blues did not generate a lot of high quality chances is nonsense. They also took the lead in four of five games. We know teams behind play desperate. We also know in the first game the home team is going to usually dominate from all their energy.
But if anyone like ol'Bruce wants to have a real conversation I can twll him how I correctly predicted how this game would start and ghe concerns I had for my team because of it.
I wasn't shooting blind and in the dark. I saw the holes.
But look, Bruce quickly forgot the Blues top center missed four of te games. rookie played in his place and played well.
So Bruce and Gump can suckp it. |

Well played sir. I joke but I live three and a half miles down a dirt road a few miles past the middle of nowhere on 40 acres lol.
But seriously you all fry everything. At a damn chow hall in Memphis, on post, in the military mind you, the green beans were fried. |

I agree it felt that way.
Kind of feels the opposite. The Wild are either going to be too tight ot just a tad too lose. They will make some major mistakes early. If the Blues bury those chances they win. If they fail they will give the Wild some life.
My likely bet is the Blues score early. Minnesota pushes too hard and the Blues go up by two killing the crowd. Then the game enters the dangerous phase. The Blues cannot then go to prevent. They need to cheat with a floater on the blue line to disrupt the point or back them off the line for a pass reception. This is where the Wild will win or lose the game. If they gamble hard and lose the battle it will create opportunities and I think will rattle their Dmen a bit. - BluemanGuruu
I predicted it. But the crowd was good and came back. I think that crowd helped their team.
But the Blues failed to keep the pressure up. and Upshall.... Like I said after it goes 2-0 it would become dangerous.

I remember, two years ago I think, you saying that you wished the Blues would attack the net from the half boards rather than constantly cycling the puck back to the point as their only option.
Your point is that it would vary the offensive opportunities and make the Blues less predictable.
Two goals scored today from players attacking from the half boards. Amazing to watch how the defense broke down on both goals. Tarasenko walked it, and Sobie pulled the strong-side defenseman out while the weak-side didn't properly cover Paajarvi, who buried it. Beautiful play and excellent finish from Magnum PI! |

Agreed. Not as physical but he's been going to the net like nobody's business. |

That's the play Chicago used to eat you up with. Nice to see the Blues add it to their bag of tricks.
Another difference with this team compared to years past is the low amount of odd man rushed they have been giving up. Maybe they had to lose Shatty to do it but I do think there is something to be said for having a well defined, stable top 4 logging all the important minutes. |

This next series is against a better team than the Wild, but with a goaltender who is not as good. Their defense is fast and mobile, but small. The Blues will need as much speed in the line up as possible. |

Defensive responsible forwards back checking hard too! Did you see Sobotka covering for a d-man, intercepting an outlet pass at the red line? |

I have a feeling the next series goes 7 games. I know we're 3-0 on the road but home ice might give us that tiny extra advantage that pushes us through.
The NHL playoffs are exhausting. Every series is a battle. Nothing like the NBA where the same teams walk to the finals every year. |
