I'm going to make one more civil request, that you trolls leave the thread immediately.
This is not for Pens fans talking about Mario Lemieux. senatards fanboiz talking about karlson.
This is for Bolts fans to talk about Hedman.
Let's proceed.
Hedman - rate of production - points per 60 minutes of play - 2.23 rank - 1st in the NHL among defenseman.
relative to team - +1.34 - 4th in the NHL.
Very impressive. This makes him neck in the neck with the best offensive performances in the NHL this year.
Incredible dman. Really does it all. And does it all WELL!!!! - prock
So get the (frank) out.

Well I am a fan of many teams, including:
The Tampa Bay Lightning
The Anaheim Ducks
The Edmonton Oilers
The Nashville Predators
The Toronto Maple Leafs
The Boston Bruins
The Los Angeles Kings
As my wife is a Habs fan, I am forced to have some fandom towards them, although deep down in side, I don't really like them.
The rest of the teams in the NHL, I have either no real disposition to either way, or in some cases, do not particularly like. Like the Philadelphia Flyers. But I don't feel this is an appropriate place to discuss my feelings on the Flyers.
I'd rather keep on topic, and discuss Hedman, who has elevated his game, and is now arguably the best dman in the league, with Doughty having a down season. |

Beat it trolls!
http://www.hockeybuzz.com/rules.php
2. Please keep threads on-topic
Try to keep things on-topic. If Eklund writes a blog on Eastern Conference trade rumors, and you want to talk about the latest NHL video game, please locate the appropriate thread, or create a new one, in the forums.
And yes, there is some more leeway given for general discussion on the threads of the team’s bloggers. But when the thread is devoted to discussing hockey, keep to the point at hand.
...
7. No trolling and no feeding the trolls
All posters are welcome in all threads, regardless of team loyalty, to discuss hockey. But do not post merely to inflame or disrupt.
Do not engage those who are out to disrupt the thread. Simply hit the post report button "!" and the Mods will deal with it from there.
Do not correct the spelling and grammar of other posters. Their errors may make you question how much credence to give their opinions, that’s up to you, but correcting their lapses is rude and trollish. |

Hedman and Karlsson are now almost the same player.
In the past, Hedman was much better defensively than Karlsson. As was mentioned already, Karlsson has been improving his defensive game and it shows.
Now, I would rank them almost the same. Hedman has improved offensively and Karlsson defensively, but they are both big, fast, talented, Swedes. I just wish both of them would throw the body around a bit more.
Of course I am going to root for Hedman for the Norris, but really, either Hedman or Karlsson is a better pick than Burns.
Burns has that awesome beard and gaudy goal numbers, so he is probably going to win. That beard is mesmerizing and the voters are going to be blinded by it's hirsute glory.

the NHL average size for a dman is 6 foot 2 if I recall.
I suggest you look up the heights and weights of the players you speak of before commenting on their size, and them being big or not.
no reason really, just saying. fact checks are good right?

I was out of the office at a vendor for my company and the lady is a huge Lightning fan which was great but all she talked about was resigning Brian Boyle and how it has to happen.
What is the fascination of resigning Brian Boyle with a lot of Lightning fans. He would be a fourth line center with a little bit of scoring and will probably be looking for 3M+ over 3-4 year deal. I like Boyle but the Yzerman would be a fool to bring him back at a raise with the more pressing needs they currently have.

He was good for the Leafs in his role. I'd be happy with a 2 or 3 year contract for 2 or 2.5 per.
There is talk of Franson wanting to return to the Leafs. Hopefully a good low cost contract there, for some d depth. One more good dman, for the first pairing, and the Leafs are contenders.

Hedman is 6'6"
Karlsson is 5'11".
I stand corrected. Hedman is "big" and Karlsson is simply "tall". |

I don't consider 5'11" tall in every day life. I personally consider it short, but by general population stats, it's average. In terms of hockey players, that's definitely short. In terms of NHL dmen, that's VERY short.
It's among the very shortest in the league.

Its all relative. The average height for a Swedish male is 5'11, where the average height for a Canadian male is 5'10. So in everyday life he is average. However I am 6'1 and im assuming you are taller too so to us he is short. And compared to Hedman and your average nhl d man he is very much considered below average. |
