You can't replicate this experience the phantoms rookies are getting...watching a team full of cobbled together career AHL'ers about to be swept out of the playoffs from the pressbox. Flyers are flying in their prospects from all over the world
- Just5

Yeah,because Gordon
Lord knows we need to see more of Lamarche and Alt, 2 future Norris winners for sure.

Agreed. The best first round series have been NYR v MTL and TOR v WSH. Teams not in the same division. Should go back to the old system of seeding and reseeding. It makes the regular season worth more AND expands the rivalry base. The two nastiest rivalries the Flyers had in the early 2000s were with OTT and TOR . . . . in no small part due to playoff series against them. Same with the nastiest of all: COL v DET. Those rivalries were not "natural" rivalries. They developed on the ice, in the playoffs.
- fls13

Agreed
You can still seed the Div winners 1st and 2nd, that's a fair reward. But then just go with the next 6 in the conference:
WAS vs TOR
MON vs BOS
PIT vs OTT
COL vs NYR

The above would have made much more sense.

Just got done talking to someone who wants the Flyers to convert Ghost and Provy to forward...

I don't even.

Kovy cannot return to the NHL unless every team in the league signs off on it. That's never going to happen.
- hereticpride

He can beginning next April when he turns 35. But this year you're correct that every GM would need to approve it. I hope he signs a 1 year KHL contract and comes back to the NHL with a team next year. He's a fun player to watch.

I would blow the rest of the $$$ on bishop for 3 years...Not sure if any team would give him more term with his recent injury history. Maybe Calgary but the trend is to dial back on term with ufa's

He wont block any kids. If kids get ready earlier than anticipated...trade bishop with salary retention kids will be on EL deals

- Just5

I would too. Him and Justin Williams are two guys I'd consider in free agency. I wouldn't even mind Jagr or Sharp either, but I think they both stay on their current teams. May be older but they still contribute and any of the 3 ex-flyers would be great locker room guys, too.

3 years is my cut off for Bishop. Gives some time for Lyon/Stolarz to get some more games in as a steady back-up in the big league, and with his injury history there should be more time available.

The Neuvirth signing just makes no sense really. Just me. Hextall wanted a insurance policy and knew the team wouldnt be able to meet Mason's demands?

I dont see anyone taking down the Penguins in the East this year. Maybe Washington, or Toronto if the goalie stays hot 'Halak' style but unlikely.

The Rangers are really getting lucky with the matchups.

Yeah 2-3 year deal would be ideal. And I know the signing really is puzzling. I understand the desire of having insurance, but the goalie market this summer is going to be filled pretty nicely, whether its trades or free agency. Sounds crazy, but I've even see some articles and rumors suggesting both Devils and Bruins could/should deal Snider and Rask. Imagine the market if that actually happened. Neuvy had his worst year AND got a raise!

I am really curious to see how this plays out and what Hexy has planned or what trick he has up his sleeve.

All just vibes, but I think Hak advocated for Neurvirth hard. Maybe the club hopes to go with a split of him and Stolarz/Lyon.

I dont really even care so much if thats truly the plan, just don't want to see the kids cock blocked by signing Bishop to a long deal, and Neuvirth as your back-up behind him.

Well if Hak had one person to advocate for, I'm glad it was Neuvy over Vandevelde

But I agree, I would like Lyon or Stolarz to get a long look next camp for the back-up role. Sucks they both are injured now for the playoffs too.

Ohhh I dont doubt Hak advocates for his boys, Neuvirth, Belle and VDV. It's a strange group of players to favour and I have no doubt he does. We shall see how badly Hex is willing to cooperate with that.

Hextall could just stand pat this summer and simply draft but I'd like to see a bit more in terms of setting the club for the future. Exploring what they could get for Schenn or Simmonds, as well as the price to move up in the draft.

Another thing. I dont think by any means it happens now, but saw a couple things about Q in Chicago. I think they would be morons to fire him, but I would hope the Flyers organization would jump at the chance. I think they missed out on a number of quality guys in DeBoer, McLellan, Julien, and possibly Gallant because they thought they 'had the guy'.

Congrats to Ottawa on being a club with little skill that is able to play above its level and all...

Despise Boucher and the style he has his clubs playing. (frank)ing snoozefest hockey.

I wouldn't be mad if he did stood pat this summer and went internal for promotions; even if we take a step back for another year. And yeah I agree he should have open ears for certain players. I saw that too about Q, but it was then followed with him getting a promotion and being a management position instead of behind the bench? Several teams would jump on him if they do let him go though. I agree on missing out on those guys and DeBoer and McLellan interested me at the time when they got fired.

Its fair to say I think the club is on its way up. An influx of young talent coming up should have this team challenging for a wild card spot in the next couple seasons - even if G is in a true decline.

Curious to see how Hextall manages this phase that is crucial to determining whether they can be a top tier group. You dont want to be like the Habs or Rags. A club that is pretty good, but wont ever win poop.

I'd say they're def on the way up. And who knows, a healthier Claude and better goaltending this season and we could have been right there for a WC spot. Not like we would have gone past 1st round probably. But I am just as curious to see how Hexy does now that we are getting younger faces on the team and a little bit more cap freed up. I'm really looking forward to next season with the added prospect dmen as well as some newer faces in the bottom 6. Especially Lindblom to see what he can do with our current core. Really hoping the younger guys add some better skating and speed to the roster and that Hextall just continues to hit the draft picks hard. Not saying its going to happen to us, but man I was looking at Chicago's drafts from 2001-2007 the other day and its just insane how their Cup core was mainly drafted in those consecutive draft years. I would love nothing more for these recent drafts years of ours with the abundance of picks to translate to that success. One day.
