If he sees a path to making their team next season, I'd choose the hometown Oilers and McDavid. Next choice would be the Kings. Then sadly, I'd put the Flyers 3rd because we have a glut of bottom-6 forwards at the moment. So unless he's okay competing for an NHL spot next year and more likely than not ending up in the AHL (and not with his Union boys), I see him signing elsewhere. - five4fighting10
My guess, Foo will announce either right before or after the oilers game |

Not surprised. The next game could be interesting if they have to pick between Ouellete and Hart, and if Myers gets in the lineup. Hersey only has like 16 shots with 4 goals not good enough.
Edit: Ouellete 1 save 2 goals against in 10 minutes of play.. has to be Hart in the next game. |

Up 4-2 entering the 3rd and blew it.

Tough one to lose. I was hoping for a split so I could go Saturday but looks like Wednesday it is. Going to be a rough Thursday morning at work. |

Rags and their 35 year old goaltender thoroughly outplay the Habs and Price.
Phantoms blowing 2 goal third period leads, and having players drop like flies due to injury. Yup, they are a chip off the old block. The song remains the same. |

Which of these are false hopes:
That Provorov continues to develop into a legit #1 Dman?
That at least some of our top D prospects (Sanheim, Morin, Hagg, Myers) develop into quality top 4 Dmen?
That the Flyers have enough good forward prospects in the system and combined with the likelihood of drafting another in the first round this year and the fact that Couturier, Weal and Konencny are all under 25 that they will have little problem having a quality group of middle 6 forwards by the time the D is hitting their prime?
That at least one of Sandstrom or Hart (both are universally considered as 2 of the top 5 goaltending prospects in the world) will be a good NHL starting goalie?
Going forward it looks to me that other than finding a true #1C, they are set up very well. Finding that center will be difficult to say the least, but I think the team is far from the hopeless mess that you portray them to be. |

If your team has great goaltending, and is sound defensively, you don't need a true 1C. Sure, it makes it a lot easier if you have one, but it's not imperative. Who's the Rags # 1 center? Derek Stepan? Please, he's nothing resembling a 1C.
Didn't the Flyers pay Giroux that enormous contract to be the # 1C going forward for the next 4-5 years at least? Have to hope he rebounds and is at the very least a 70 point player next year.
I get that the pipeline has a lot of good prospects, but until they do it at the NHL level, they are in fact just prospects. Who knows what the future holds.
When I see the Penguins drafting players in later rounds like Murray, Guentzel, Rust etc. it makes me sick. Outside of Ghost, have the Flyers hit on any draft picks outside the first two rounds in recent years? |

I think you are about to see some post 2nd round picks starting to have an impact, it will begin next year with Lindblom. Any scout will tell you that if ONE of your post 2nd round draftees from any given draft year becomes a solid NHL player, you are doing well and if anyone drafted post 4th round makes it at all, you also did well. So lets take a look at the last 5 drafts:
2012
Ghost is already a homerun for a 3rd round pick and Leier rd 4, 117 overall) at least still has a chance of being an NHL player
2013
Madsen, the goalie taken in the 6th round, 162 overall has at least a chance of being an NHL player, but that's pretty much it.
2014
Friedman, 3rd round, 86th overall is a legit prospect
Lindblom 5th round, 138th overall has a legit chance to be an impact player and will, at worst, be a solid 3rd line wing.
2015
Sandstrom, 3rd round, 70th overall has a legit shot to be star quality #1 NHL goalie
And all of their 4th, 5th, and 6th round picks: Dove-McFalls, Vorobyov, Kase and Marody are legit prospects with NHL potential.
2016
Carsen Twarynski (3rd round, 82 overall) looks like a pretty good LW prospect
Bunnaman (4th round, 109 overall) could be a steal as most scouts are saying that if the draft was held again today, he'd be a mid 2nd round pick.
And Tanner Laczynski is looking good for a 6th rounder who went 169 overall
It seems to me that they've been drafting pretty well under Hextall and are on their way to being set at D and in goal and at least solid at forward. Hextall has only been in full control for 3 seasons, I'm willing to give him a couple more before crapping all over the team. |

5 of the top 6 teams with the best prospect groups in the fall of 2013 were out of the playoffs for the 2016-17 season.
Flyers have to try it this way though even if it guarantees nothing |

That link states my point. Prospects are just prospects. Until you see them produce at the NHL level, it doesn't really mean anything.
I disagree that the Flyers have to try it this way. Being aggressive in FA and the trade market can work if you avoid the JVR, Bryz, A-Mac type transactions. Being competent isn't really a lot to ask for. |

Asks petty question to poop on the Flyers
Gets legitimate response both answering that question and refuting the basis of the hate. e.g. "Omg what hits have they gotten in the later rounds" and someone posts a list of all promising 3rd+ round prospects.
Decides to poop on something else.
My favorite is when he reaches into the complain bag about something like the Phantoms, something he hasn't complained or cared about in months.
What a charade you are. |
