After telling teams he wanted to take a little time off and think about his decision fully, NCAA free agent Spencer Foo has now met with five different teams. Ken Campbell of The Hockey News reports that he could make his decision as soon as this weekend, and that interested teams still include Philadelphia, Los Angeles and Edmonton among others.
Foo was a Hobey Baker finalist in this his junior season with Union College, and was named to the All-American first team after scoring 62 points in 38 games. His teammate Mike Vecchione already signed with Philadelphia, and Foo could follow him there soon to join fellow Union alum Shayne Gostisbehere. He’s also been linked to Calgary in the past, attending development camp with the Flames last summer. In 2015, the San Jose Sharks hosted him at their own development camp, though there has been no recent link between the two sides.
The Edmonton-born forward—who grew up an Oilers fan—was an offensive force during his junior season, and at 22 will progress rapidly through whichever system eventually signs him. Like Vecchione, there has been some debate over whether he could handle the center ice position in professional hockey, with his most likely landing spot on the right wing. With speed to burn and a nose for the net he’ll try to follow the example set by fellow undrafted college player Conor Sheary and find success early in his pro career.
So if you are Foo, do you sign with your hometown Oilers with a chance to play with McDavid but who also have a glut of yound forwards. Do you sign with LA. West coast weather, team that needs young forwards but a team in my opinion on the downside. I have no idea what their prospect pool looks like. Do you sign with the Flyers where your ex-teammates signed and a team who obviously need young talented forwards. |

Your boys being pushed hard by Edmonton out there.

Ilya Kovachuk hasn't signed an extension with his current club. We're extremely weak at LW. However, he has a poor history of loyalty and is 34. Would you take a chance on him short term as we did Jagr with the same concerns before leaving the league. |

As long as he can still bury the puck, sure. It's not a Hextall kind of move given his age. But look at Radulov. He has done fairly well coming back to the league. |

If he sees a path to making their team next season, I'd choose the hometown Oilers and McDavid. Next choice would be the Kings. Then sadly, I'd put the Flyers 3rd because we have a glut of bottom-6 forwards at the moment. So unless he's okay competing for an NHL spot next year and more likely than not ending up in the AHL (and not with his Union boys), I see him signing elsewhere. |

Kovy cannot return to the NHL unless every team in the league signs off on it. That's never going to happen. |

Not interested. Kovalchuk isn't exactly Flyers material. |

Watching the Phantoms games Morin has really stuck out in the defensive zone. Someone mentioned it the other day, but Hagg almost disappears. Then Sanheim seems to push in the offensive zone and hang his partner out to dry if it goes the other way.
As for why Friedman and Myers arent playing it is kind of disappointing. In todays game first goal was all on Alt he took a hit and left his assignment to get redemption. Lamarche has looked fine. |

I won't be that disappointed if Myers doesn't play anymore this year. He sustained a concussion earlier in the season, if he is "NHL Ready" as Bob McKenzie has suggested, why risk him for a Calder Cup run? He certainly would make the Phantoms better, so I can see both sides of the argument. |

Yeah I would agree with that, I havent senn Friedman play but he would have to be better than Alt cause he has looked bad. Both playing D and moving the puck.
Sanheim has looked really good in the offensive zone. Has done a great job keep pucks in the zone. |

I do believe in a few years, Ghost will probably be the 3rd, maybe 4th dman on the Flyers. I don't look at it as a knock on Ghost, just what the overall games of a couple of the prospects could reach. Of course, I want Ghost signed long-term this summer, but what the team will look like with such a mobile, talented blue line will look night and day from this past season.

I think its imperative to get him locked him into a long term deal. 6 yrs 4-4.5 mil is just fine for a 2nd pairing |

Morin has looked good? He's a player that could be really nice to have in a playoff war when you watch all these goal mouth scrums after the whistle. Habs are trying so hard right now to rattle all the rangers D. They have no one like a Morin to push back |

I think he has stood out. A few mistakes but looks like the best defender on the team to me.
