I feel he'll be back. Maybe next year, maybe a bit later. I think once he probably gets more settled into marriage, maybe he gets a kid into his marriage then he'll come around on his earning potential over here.

Its not like this is as dire as a guy leaving when the team is on the upswing. This team is basically at rock bottom and will be for a year or two at least.

If he joins back in a couple years when things are going up. He'll be 24 or whatever, more experiened, and even if he's only playing 18 a night it'll probably be a better situation for him if the team is winning and his wife and family are in a more comfortable place.

I hope so, i've thought that too about him seasoning a bit back in Russia, where he'll hopefully be in a better space (mentally/emotionally) and then returning to Vancouver when the team is also hopefully in a better space.

Could be a blessing in disguise.

or he could just stay in russia and play out his career at home.

I think Sven has the higher ceiling but lower floor of the two. I really liked watching Granlund play this year, good instincts, smart and adaptable player with consistent effort. Sven has had some great games and some where you forget he dressed.

For me, right now between them its a toss up as to who I'd rather have for a game mostly because you dont know if youre getting the gamebreaker Sven or invisible one

I'm just (frank)ing around ...it's Friday and my hangover is strong

IMO Sven is a much bigger loss ...granlund has a great release and that's it ...Sven is the much better and bigger loss

- Redmile247

Totally. Granlund is a good 3rd line winger, maybe even a Hansen utility type that can play up and down. Sven could continue to grow, might be very good

I see most posts are still on why Tryamkin decided to leave, I'm telling everyone here, it wasn't Willie, Doug, Jim, Hank or Danny's hate of Russians, not enough money, only a two year contract for such a talented superstar defenceman...

I'm not sure why this train of thought is continuing, read the damn reports, Goldy was making it with his wife, it's right there in black and white, if you read between the lines.

Why ?
- Redmile247

Because Tryamkin is only 3 months younger than Slavin?

Tree has been playing pro since he was 17. He has 39 career points in the NHL and KHL combined.

Slavin had 34 points in the NHL just this past season.

Hope so.
i definitely do not feel comfortable penciling him onto the 1st line like some here do.
i like him on the 2nd line at this point.
looked much better this year tho.

I havent heard this one....where did you read it?
If it were me and my wife was fooling around Id be dumping her cheating ass and going back to russia without her

- SMBDragon

That was a facetious post.

I personally think he left because of family reason only, after listening to Bennings version this morning, they tried everything they could to keep him here. Yes i know that there will be several other ideas presented on how they may of enticed him further, but from what I have read and deduced, his mind was made up.

This is either a great meta-troll, of how people just appear to make poop up or... an actual thing you read somewhere, but this econd one seems less likely to me

This is an example of why you dont wait on firing

I feel the same way about these two....I think we will have a greater understanding of which one of them should be a part of the future core at the midway point of the season. My money is on Granlund as he appears to "want it" more.

I can't wait until other guys leave in a few years and it's because they're scarred from their time with WD years ago.

I've seen the twins blamed, WD blamed, everyone blamed but the guy who's decision it was.

This fan base is pathetic.

Friction in the locker room, family reasons, dislike of Lidster, entitlement issues and home sickness were all causes...oh and of course, Goblin's continual advances on his new bride

He'll be back. He's never gonna be a big time producer, but I'm with Vag on this one. Guy just wants some time to get things straight with his family. He'll come back and be stronger than he was when he left.
