well, it's a bad draft year this year apparently, but can they really predict that far? I don't think so.
- stinger67

I'm not saying they're predicting that far...I'm just saying it's gonna happen should the habs choose to rebuild.

what this team really needs is more talent upfront so the winner of the Molson Cup is not always the goalie, every (frank)in year for the past 2 decades,
and that when they dominate the first period or the 1st half of the game they actually score and take the lead by more than 1 poopy goal (and that's if they're lucky).

game 4 played out the same way for the Rangers... couldn't get that insurance goal. they still won because they were able to lock it down. sometimes you gotta win those 2-1 games.

Seriously...if they don't resign Radulov...I haven't watched the UFA market closely, but I don't think it's the Klondike this year.

Let's hope Charles Hudon turns out to be a special player because they have nothing coming up in the pipeline for a while.

Yeah, probably...Instead of a Connor McDavid or an Austin Matthews, they'll draft a bunch of Kyle Chipchuras.

How many posts by Shea Weber in the series? Unbelievable. Rangers have been good, Lundqvist too, but good God there are often times when the puck hits him and rolls out behind, and he has no idea where it is, and just crouches in puck freeze position to get a whistle but he has no control on it whatsoever.

That's the other thing I don't get. I heard Bergevin say often he's trying to mimic what was done in Chicago, you know...draft and develop to build a contender...but câlisse, there is no way you are going to do that with 24-27th overall picks.

Chicago has a long list of players drafted and developed or signed/traded for outside of top 10 picks. going back many years to selections like Keith, Byfuglien, Crawford, Hjalmersson... more recently with guys like Panarin, Saad...

you're not getting Toews or Kane with those picks...and we don't have those types of players...so yeah, doing what Chicago is doing is kinda pointless at this moment...

Why couldn't you close that deal Bergevin?

true, but if you only win some of the low scoring games (and obviously none of the high socring ones)... chances are you won't see your name on the cup

It helps for those players to develop when you have Toews and Kane in there...those guys can come in and not get asked to do too much because there are 2 bonafide super-stars on the team...

Thought game 2 and last night were carbon copies. Almost identical how both teams played.

i think Montreal specifically has built themselves to excel in those types of games (2-1), not the higher scoring games. they've got some decent offensive players but they're never going to consistently score 3 goals in the playoffs. but they have the capability to shut teams down.

I'm tired Pete. It's the same old same old with this team, I just don't see them as contenders, and I don't see them make the leap forward to one in the near future, at least not with what they have now. People are talking about a "window of opportunity"...I don't see it. Not with Danault as the number one center.

They have glaring holes that haven't been filled. They failed to address clear needs on this team that aren't new, they have been known for a while now. I don't care if trades are hard. Just do the (frank)ing job.

They also can't draft and develop properly. Lehkonen is the sole bright spot, and he was developed in Sweden, outside the organization (thank God).

it helps but it's not make or break. it's not like Pacioretty or Subban came up with the 76 Canadiens. you draft good players, develop them properly and they'll contribute.

don't let ol' pete get to you. anything other than "everything with this organization is perfect" constitutes whining to him
