Why are you guys all talking about the weird clown who treats every Flyers loss as a personal victory?

Great organization and lots of playoff appearances in total, but yeah, 74-75 was a long time ago.

I like the direction they are going in general, a young promising mobile D core is something to be excited about. But watching the playoffs without the Flyers in them is bad.

- Marc D

It's really a tale of 2 teams
Up thru 97:
NHL semis/Conf finalists: 12 times
Got to the finals: 7 times
Won it all twice

Post 97
Conf finalists: 4 times
Got to the finals only once and lost

They aren't the team guys my age grew up with any more. They've missed the playoffs 3 of the last 5 years and it's been 5 springs and counting since they've won a series. BTW, in franchise history they've NEVER gone 6 consecutive years without winning a series, so the pressure is on.

That being said, going all out negative over every move is asinine, but it's equally asinine to blindly defend every move they make too. Since 97, they've been an average franchise. Hopefully Hexy can return the team to being a top team year in and year out. So far, for the most part, I like what he's doing especially when it comes to player development, but they have a long way to go.

They certainly aren't above criticism, but they also deserve kudos when they make smart moves too.

I think I should start getting paid for the mention of my screen name when I'm not around. It's funny but I don't think about other poster when theyre not around.

I've been battling so hard lately myself for the anti-anti-circumcision movement that I haven't had time to acquaint myself with S2TP's battle for justice. For what does he wage his battle?

I, personally, like PLind's posts -- are they negative a lot? Sure. It's his shtick, and for some people, the glass is half empty. But he isn't right or wrong more or less than the rest of us

I mean, seriously. Look past the avatar, and you see a guy who doesn't want 4th-liners to be overpaid, prefers skilled depth to "grit," expects performance on the PK, and thinks that management and coaches should not get a pass when they double down on bad calls.

I mean, come on. Yeah, the posts can run negative. But it's just as bad to say that every move the organization makes is worthy of praise.

They are human. Sometimes things work well. Sometimes you buy out Ilya Bryzgalov after two seasons

- AllInForFlyers

Their isnt anyone on Hockeybuzz that is as blindly positive as PLind is negative.

What I find frustrating is when PLind just posts about hockey and doesnt go out of his way to blame the Flyers for everything from the Plague to Y2K he says some great and knowledgeable things.....

thank you from sparing me from writing this post. beezer was very good in that series.
- hammarby31

honestly I never understood the Beezer hate and the we would have won with Cujo talk. 2 bad goals for sure but 9 in 6 games was outstanding. Maybe had they scored a few.

(frank) chicago with a broken Sher-Wood 5030 featherglass. so glad to see them done in humiliating fashion.

happy for lava. not revenge for 2010, but i hope they get a shot to win it. in watching this series i admit to thinking it was a mistake to fire him. certainly 3 games into the season that lead to chief coaching. i'm very skeptical of hakstol right now.

re: bob. i said it then, and i'll say it now. i didn't like the trade, not under those circumstances RE: bryz/contract, but have been more than fine with mason since then. no guarantee he'd be where he is, if he had stayed here. my point is - get over bob and his vezinas. they've done absolutely nothing for the team in winning when it matters. he's been flat out bad in the playoffs. not debatable.

i was never a beezer fan, but he played well for them overall. typical lazy narrative. blame the goalie.

now in bob's case, it's warranted.

No doubt, their lack of offense was the biggest reason they lost. Losing Lindros to injury that spring really took the wind out of their sails going into the playoffs that year.

But man, that one goal that Beezer gave up in game 6 was just flat out hideous and a total momentum crusher. What makes it stand out more was that he had been playing so well otherwise.

Looking back, I don't think they had the horses to go all the way in 99, 2004 and 2010 are the ones that eat me up. A healthy Dman or 2 in 04 and a healthy Emery in 2010 and we'd probably have a couple more Cups

2 friends have tried them, both reported that it tastes vile. I refuse to buy any of Starbucks overpriced burnt coffee or pure sugar drinks. I prefer to get my coffee at a locally owned coffee shop. Much better coffee and half the price.

Starbucks is a huge rip off, I don't get why so many buy there.

Yeah, I've never understood folks fascination with things like labels, status and celebs. The fact that there are people out there who give a damn what company made their clothing or which actor is screwing which other actor is just weird to me.

yep and 87 kills me too because they took a dynasty team to game 7 without Kerr or a healthy Poulin. I really thought they were going to win game 7 after game 6. i've been to probably over 400 games in my life and by far that was the loudest I have ever heard an arena for a hockey game. no need for manufactured noise. the roof felt like it was going to blow off. I thought they had the momentum. (frank) that extra day off between games

yup I was there too, thought the roof was gonna come off again when JJ got that goal. Yeah, that extra day off did them no favors, and double yeah, would have been nice to have Poulin and Kerr there too.
