I don't hate on Bob, but I do hate on folks who make the dopey Mason/Bob comparison and, by proxy, might make a snarky remark about Bob's Vezina being in a shortened season.
But otherwise, I can't imagine why Flyers fans would wish Bob ill will. It's not his fault they went out and signed Bryz and roadblocked his career in Philly. Wanting a trade out is perfectly understandable and he and his agents did Philly a solid by not whining to the press about wanting a trade. - johndewar
I am just sick of the haters mentioning Bob anytime a Flyers goalie gives up a goal. It's just stupid. Especially when you actually look at Mason's numbers. Mason is 1 of 18 goalies to play in over 200 games since 2013-2014. He is 11th in save% and 13th in GAA. He was actually ahead of Bob in both categories since 2013-2014 coming into this season. |

When the Flyers were in the Finals in 2010, we got to every game when doors opened and sat by the Flyers tunnel. Before every game, Briere would come out onto the bench with headphones, and just sit there. I am assuming he spent the time visualizing the game he was going to have. - jmatchett383

Kind of surprised to see a goalie change when Sandstrom has played so well and they are so close to winning it all. Their coach took a risk inserting a guy, even if he was their veteran starter, into the lineup after an injury and layoff. Guess it worked out though.
Hey Bill, any chance that CSN Philly or TCN airs any of the Phantoms playoff games?
I read that Sandstrom being sick (fever) was the reason for him not playing |

It's probably a great move in NHL '17. - johndewar
It is a great move in the NHL in '17. Just because he is paid more money doesn't mean he can't be getting 4th line ice time. It is what the Flyers should be doing with AMac, and what they will probably do with Read or Weise.
He spent a good portion of the year on a "4th line", and it was their depth that got them this far. |

Agreed. Mason's done good work here, despite a sub-par blue line.
If he doesn't sign here, I'll be interested to hear the backstory as to why, because I have a hard time believing the decision to not sign him is performance based. |

So were the Sharks. The Oilers were all over them and there was nothing they could do about it. |

Don't see anyone challenging the Penguins in the East or the West. I think they win yet another cup.
Two years in a row now where they just seem to win every battle and outskate pretty much everyone. Speed kills. Look at McDavid in Edmonton. Speed is the future of the league. Its less about the 200ft game in my opinion because if your players are fast enough they can get the puck out quickly and play on the opposite end of the ice more often. |

The Pens defense has been porous. Last night, they got outshot 51-32, they just got the good MAF. MAF has high highs and low lows, and you never know which one you'll get. If Montreal can get their poop together offensively or if Anaheim wins the West, both of those teams could take them. |

Bill, I like you was in attendance in 2011 when Bob struggled and was pulled for Bouch. He was a deer in the headlights. Maybe the Flyers knew something back then or maybe Snider just wanted to end the goalie carousel for good and Bryz could not function with a stud young goalie behind him. Regardless, it did not workout for us.
2011 was a small sample size and no one can argue Bobs regular season play when healthy.
However, here is what I do know. If the Flyers paid a goalie 7.5 mill a year and he played like that in a big series against Pitts everyone from Novokuznetsk to New Hope would have been barking at the Flyers consistent inability to find a long term goalie.
Bob was a mess against the Pens. He overplayed pucks, let in shots from bad angles and it was obvious the Pens knew he was not the same goalie.
At this point he remains a huge question mark when playing in the spotlight and makes a ton of money... |

It's possible the BJs ask Hartnell to waive or buy him out. Otherwise they would be forced to expose Boone Jenner or Josh Anderson.

I think they would take Calvert over Anderson. I have a sneaking suspicion they will take Jack Johnson though. |

Anderson had a much better season than Calvert and is younger. Even Karlsson would be a better pick for Vegas than Calvert.
CBJ is one of the few teams where Vegas can get a quality young forward. |
