Again agreed! They need to fire dim jim before he sees this draft it's going to be an important one, even if there's no generational players! Still important to find those depth guy's!

The first round sure, but the first few picks appear pretty straight-forward.
Going by the scouting services, the general consensus seems to be:

Patrick
Hischier
Mittelstadt,
Vilardi,

with the 5th and on being all over the map.

- Whiskey-Tango

well...Makar and Heiskanen are creeping into some top 5 lists. Vilardi has been dropping...mainly because he isn't playing hockey anymore

Honestly, yes I did & my expectations were extremely high once I saw him on tape. You don't find guys with that size who can skate like he can very often... His potential is ridiculous.
- DrChristianTroy

Ya and only 22! What would this kid look like a 24? Ownership needs to be asking why didn't this kid what to play long term in a class city/organization? Wanting to go home sorry, but don't buy what one bit! You'd have to be nieve!

That reminds me of the story about Smyl's wife taking Larionov and Krutov's wives to the grocery store for the first time and they tried to buy every chicken in the store until it was explained to them that there are chickens here everyday.

I know no one is saying this but, do you think playing in the Olympics was also a motivating factor? i thought i heard that he only signed a 1 yr deal... hopefully he only signed a 1 yr deal to be with family and for the possibility of Olympics and then comes back the next year
- GloveHandStrong

Yes posted from last thread and here. Plus Carol's blog. But it hasn't been reported so it's part of the speculation factor. People either want to talk to character and commitment. I get the family reasons. Plus it's harder for him here. I say money talks BS walks.

If he didn't have it good here then a serious not just competative contract would have done it. Only 2 Years, with probably nominal raise. Says a lot. You are not core. We just hope you can be. Let's see. So if they want to get him back then next one should be more substantial when he's ready again.

Don't be fooled by the spin. Yes those are factors. Secondary to the chief reason that always cures all. Think about it. 2 year extension. Couldn't be for a lot either. Let that sink in. Why everything else mentioned becomes prominent. You put up with stuff if the money is there.

Or maybe read between the lines and come up with a different wildly speculative option and push that instead...let's see...oh it's because Goldy hit on his wife and Tryamkin needed to get out of town before she left completely...it's all there in the media report if you read between the lines and make up what you want.

Only a one year deal... well that shatters the stupid assumption he left because he was only offered a 2 year deal.

that is the exact poop that I am talking about tho. What are you breaking down? You are making up stories from "what is unspoken and reading between invisible lines". Why do you do that? Its black and white. Tryamkin left man. Get over it.

I think you are missing not just the point but the reason we discuss things here.

I pointed some angles to this given logical deductions. I didn't read in any feelings you get over something not said. Maybe you got feelings you need to cut out.

In the meantime, issues remain. How was this handled? What needs to be done? He's a special talent and if thought as core you need plan for that.

We'll see if there is a reset later. In 2014 this kid showed up the draft. He wanted to play in the NHL. Something went wrong here with the Nucks. Plain and simple.

The Nucks have a big hole to figure out. Like who is the next candidate to be top pairing? The longer that question looms. Then the more Edler and Tanev stay instead of turned into rebuild assets.

Probably because he was never that committed to the NHL, when you have to negotiate an out clause to the KHL instead of the AHL when the AHL would be a better developmental league for him and give him the opportunity to play the 20+ minutes a night he's looking for, that says something. He came into camp out of shape and expected to be playing top minutes when he wasn't better than who we had set in the top 4 at the start of the season. He refused to waive for a conditioning stint and rightly sat out a bunch of games while he worked on his weight/conditioning.

My whole thought on this is that we had someone who felt extremely entitled, even though he was only a 3rd round pick, always had his eye on the KHL and the Canucks were forced to cater to him in order to bring him over. He played a year, didn't like the coaches and the lifestyle, didn't know the language, is Russian and has all his family there and would make a ton of money in the KHL that he never would in the NHL (unless he was a superstar in the making) and chose to bolt for those reasons. Tryamkin is no loss, if he was truly committed to being an NHL player and potential core player he'd never have had that out clause in his contract, nor would he have come to camp so out of shape. It's a shame, but we have his rights for several years, and there's always a chance he comes back.

Benning in a further statement said he is still hoping at some point they hope to get Tryamkin back.
