Man I'm legitimately concerned for the future of this team, we were supposed to be a playoff contender for sure by next season but now I'm not so sure.

To be honest with you, I think that's the issue. Expectations. It's not often you see a Stanley Cup contending team that didn't pick top 5-10 for a LONG time.

Even teams like the Blackhawks missed on some first rounders at that time and they nailed some depth drafts.

Here's why we're at where we are:
For crying out loud, Darcy drafter HORRIBLY for what a DECADE? He started doing better but I read articles on where are they now? from the Sabres drafts from about '05 - '11 (?). It was terrible.

Then Murray came in and sold just about any asset he could to get some decent players and draft high.

That's was two bad GM's in a row that through various means, hurt the depth of the team. I am intrigued to see what the players Murray drafted turn in to.

Oh well, time to move forward...

Ya you don't know what's going to happen. ..but their has to be optimism on the future, it's a fresh start and a new set of eyes and mind to right the ship! The expansion draft, prospect draft, July 1st, trades, lots to talk about and to look forward too! it looks like a shatty time but they'll be fine! Buffalo has some great pieces, and factor in all of the above don't sweat it boys...I'm out of here all the best in the future! and kill the trolls

If you think about it this year probably went as well as it could have for the team. We win a few more games and we're going into next year with Kulikov and Bogosian in our top 4 with Murray and Dan at the helm
