Wonder if it would be worth entertaining a trade with Arizona. We trade our 1st for their 2 1sts. Obviously that would only be if we picked higher than them.
We then pick a Glass/Necas/Rasmussen and a Foote Valimaki or Hague with the other 1st.
We get a top6 centre and a replacement for Nikki

Now watch this management group rush Juolevi to the NHL.

Honestly, that now becomes a concern

I acutally feel bad for you....I know I shouldn't
- CanuckDon

Nah I'm fine ...they were way better this time around against the ducks ...outplayed them 3/4 but just couldn't get more than average goaltending ...it would have felt worse if they were dominated or if they played the oil and lost

There's one very easy way actually, you just say "3 out of 7 appear to be NHL players". That's actually a successfull draft. What he did with those players after the draft doesn't actually determine whether we look back and say it was good. I agree that if a sucessfull draft means "helping your team the most" that you're right. my definition is "picking NHL calibre players with your draft picks" is a successful draft. Otherwise, how can we say Gillis' last draf twas good? he didn't choose to move or not move any players, or how Horvat was developed. Seems like we want to say "Got to hand it to Gillis, that was a hell of a draft"
- neem55

Semantics my man

A good draft is one that furthers the team that makes the selections.
As of yet, that has yet to happen, though I do think Demko will be a (the lone) bright spot.

I think were still getting a very solid d prospect at 33, don't worry. Arizona is not likely to be in the business of trading away picks, but I hope you're right

I don't think it would have mattered, he didn't want to be here.
- Kaynine

As bad as Tree leaving is for next season, we will have an asset with NHL experience. We can trade his rights, or he may even still return. All is not lost

Not now man! the lineup! Tree and Larsen are out, we need to predict a lineup that will insure us as a bubble team next year, because if we make the playoffs ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN (I think I make a really good chicken little)

No, it isn't
And yes Demko looks good, and if JB was fired the day after picking him I would still say JB had a great draft in 2014

Arizona could finish ahead of us in the draft lottery They are tied for third pick now. No chance they do that

Shouldn't the tankers be happy Tree took his ball and ran back to Russia? We have his rights for another 5 years and we are now more likely to struggle next season and draft a star. The glass is half full

That is ridiculous IMO. This team needs a tear down and rebuild so bad but we have to accommodate the Twins
- VANTEL

The only real power the Nucks have on this own is to buy them out. They won't retire and you can't trade them. Does that help much?

Canucks still need to trade Edler or Tanev this summer before expansion draft
