Now that we have a hole there I see a bigger reason to sign Foote

He is a coward because he is entitled and wasn't willing to prove himself. You must admit, he is pretty soft for a guy his size though. How can you defend a guy that thinks he should be on the top pair when he is rookie? I thought everyone wanted the kids to earn their ice time? That was yesterdays prerogative?
- CanuckDon

I said that a while back. I thought he was very soft for a guy his size, and wanted to see the mean streak come out and be aggressive. Everyone always says he was in the scrums but I thought rarely went after guys or got in their faces, I saw him more of a peacekeeper in those scrums. Not an intimidating as he could have been, thats probably what the coaches were giving him grief for

He was one of the few players that hit or fought. He was a 22 year old in a foreign country learning about everything. He had guys that were 30 years old 6'5 coming to challenge him He was learning.

As he was going further and further he was learning he could beat these other players . Same as his attack game with the puck was progressing. He was developing.

Hey, I liked Tree just as much as you! I was seriously angry when I was told how much he was disliked in the room. My initial reaction was "screw the country club." But this is on Tree...He demanded first line minutes, wanted Willie gone, refused time in the AHL. then, after Benning fires Willie and promises a bigger role next year he takes his ball and runs back to Russia. I think peoples hate may be a bit misdirected here.

For fights Dorsett and Lebate had 3; Tryamkin, Gudbranson, Sbisa had 2; a bunch of others had 1. Guys that played a handful of games led the team in fights...

I dont think any disagrees that he was developing nicely. I do think the disconnect is that Tyamkin thought he was developing faster than he was. He probably deserved a better look with maybe Edler or Tanev, but any one of those pairings would have been offensively challenged

I get your point, but Quinn also had zero GM experience and Burke had 1 season as the Hartford GM before becoming the VAN GM 5 years later

I would have went to Tryamkin Bo Stecher Boeser and say you guys stay here the rest of you can leave. I hate that core group worst ever in all my years of Hockey .

right, but how the assets are managed doesn't actually effect their value though. It's fair to say JB dropped the ball on that trade, I agree the move was a donkey one. But it's not really fair to say the pick was bad, because it looks like an NHL player. Many on here agreed with it at that time(not saying you did), that we just needed a few more players and the team could compete. I was very much in favor of tanking then, because the writing was already on the wall and I didn't need to see us get worked by the Flames to know it
- neem55

Sure it does.

As it stands, that was by and large, a good draft on Benning's part in theory.

In practice however, through poor trades, poor asset management, poor development and poor coaching, it no longer is.

Out of seven picks, 3 are no longer with the team and two are assured busts with the remaining two still questions marks at the NHL level. One of which was 6th overall for Christ sakes.

There's absolutely no way to justify that.

I don't have to step down Lefty, I already know what you think of me and I'm ok with it.

My point was, if in an open forum people can make uninformed chicken little comments, then why are my comments any less relevant, it is after all an open forum dialogue...or does that only work one way.

BTW if you want to get something off your chest, go ahead and send a PM

Agree....It goes back to making good informed decisions. When you pick a Russian, this is always a possibility. He's a young guy living in a different culture not knowing the language and probably getting frustrated because he doesn't understand why he's not playing.

For me it's not why it happened but rather that it did happen, which is again my stance that it's just another blunder in the Benning tenure.

That is ridiculous IMO. This team needs a tear down and rebuild so bad but we have to accommodate the Twins
