we don't have a patient fanbase....I think the team should move to Seattle for 5 years while they rebuild and then return when they are competitive. Everyone wins
- CanuckDon

We've been waiting 47 (frank)in years, how much patience is too much? It's funny, at not in a humorous kind of way, how the Sabres and Canucks mirror each other in a lot of aspects.

They just can't seem to get out of their own way sometimes, or more accurately, for their entire existence. Just one misstep after another, after another, and so on, and so on....there's a reason they've never been successful.

One thing for sure, all this drama won't sell tickets this summer.

Yeah, this is definitely not good for the marketing department.

Absolutely, it is also a bit comical, but hey as I said before, this group is becoming united as one.

It's a hockey forum, its very purpose is to over-analyze, gossip and critique every single piece of Canucks related news.

Unfortunately for us today, it just so happens to be related to what we all figured would be one of those mysterious 'foundational pieces'.

At the end of the day, be it Tree's fault, W.D's or managements...it (frank)ing blows nonetheless.

You should have heard Botchford and Pratt going at it on 1040 this morning

Tramkin is probably taking the 'wait and see' approach. See what coach they hire and where the team is at by the end of next season. If it looks promising he'll probably be back if not he'll piss off. I would ask the posters here though is this the kind of Attitude we want from our players moving forward? To pull out and take off at the first sign of adversity Like Kovalchuk Datsyuk Kesler and a few others did?

Or maybe what we need is players who can deal with the psychological and physical diversity that the NHL requires. If Tramkin is pissing off because he is pouting about the coach or mngt then piss off and git gone.

He's at least young enough to return. Sobotka spent 3 years there, Radulov a bunch, and Zaitsev was 25 when he came over. Plenty of time for him to mature, and Canucks will have his NHL rights

The "nice guy" team personality doesn't work. The canucks have had their most success when they were aggressive, a little dirty, and antagonizing. Whether it was during the Bure/Odjick years, Burke years, or during the Gillis years.

This team had a well deserved rep and it worked for them.

- bloatedmosquito

Continually hiring people like Dave Nonis, Mike Gillis, Trevor Linden and Jim Benning, that's 14 years worth of time, to do a job without any direct experience is a reason things get prolonged when you're trying to build a franchise.

I'm shocked that there is shock over this type of reaction. It happens every time. Got to ready yourself for it.

Getting to the finals and losing is success, it's just not the pinnacle of success. Being a playoff team for a decade is also a kind of success. The best you can do is build a team that is competitive enough, and then it's on the players in the room. We had that for three maybe four years. I don't get this perspective of Stanley cup or bust, I'd rather build up for ten years of competitive Canucks hockey, then have a one and done run team... hence

Until 2022, I hope they don't draft anymore from the KHL again

It's pretty disappointing Makita. I've been losing faith with this management group this past season, particularly because of the mixed messages from Benning, Linden and Desjardin. Then with their refusal to acknowledge a rebuild and then this.
Not a good start to the off season, in my eyes.

I can't listen to 1040. I started listening back when John 'the beast' Conners (sp?) was on the air. I remember when he laid directly into Trevor Linden during an interview calling his local persona a bit overrated. The Beast was gone from radio a day later. Funny stuff.

But the constant rotation of format and personalities turned me off. Talk about drama. It was more about what went on at the station then what they were reporting on.

How many vending machine conversations can you possibly have? According to 1040, about 8 years worth.

Much like willie to Green, I'd hoped the Canucks learned from Gillis and wouldn't hire another rookie GM after they just had 2. That being said, maybe the Tallon's, Lamarello's and Bowman's of the world simply don't want to work in Vancouver?

Just because Forsling and Tree aren't on Canucks, doesn't make 2014 a bad draft, they still drafted those players people

I'll start here....everyone is incredibly uninformed and jumping to conclusions...just like that idiot Botchford.

Some of you may remember that I stated a week ago that the KHL was a possibility as Tree was HATED in the room. well, now you know the source is correct.

Tree came into camp out of shape with a bad attitude. He refused to play in the AHL and his teammates resented that. Benning spent all season trying to cater to the guys feelings as he disliked Willie. Tree was hated in the room all season. He thinks he deserves to be on the top pairing and he doesn't respect his teammates. At one point, a player glove punched him in the face and his tears were welling up on the bench. Lidster laid into him for being a coward. The players all thought he was a p*ssy, yes even Horvat!

Benning was the one guy that stuck by him and tried to keep him around. They even fired the coach! Tree has shown his true colors and the Canucks don't need somebody like him in the room.

People should get their facts straight before going full B!tchford.

I get your point, but Quinn also had zero GM experience and Burke had 1 season as the Hartford GM before becoming the VAN GM 5 years later

Oh I agree, however, Gillis was a player agent, zero experience in management. Nonis was young with a few years experience under Burke. Linden zero experience. Benning is the one that puzzles me because he should've been better at his job because he has laid a trail for himself leading up to being a GM.

Perhaps he would've been a good GM back in the day when there wasn't a salary cap and trading was important, like Brian Burke, but it's not like that anymore.
