I understand the disappointment, I guess I'm an individual that prefers to make informed decisions.

I must admit that I'm a bit confused by the mixed messages that have come out, he stated he was happy to play here and the NHL was his focus. Now he states he was unhappy with WD and not being a top 6 player...sorry but I'm getting a few red flags here.

So when all I read here is reactionary speculation I was a bit shocked.

Everyone seems to be throwing a twist to everything...it's the Sedins fault for not mentoring, they hate Russians, it"s Bennings fault, and now the rebuild is another 2 years behind, it's the fault of tanking and what happens when you don't play the kids 30 minutes a night....and on and on

Don't take it personally.

Judging by recent events, your story could very much be true.
But, offering it with zero context and expecting pps to take it as gospel while simultaneously accusing disbelievers of being miss-informed and dumb is another thing all together.

Look, this is an anonymous forum, we have no idea who you are.
Nothing wrong with stating that "I was at dinner with X, who knows Y, who stated that Z is a douche".

Context.

I really don't give a poop if he's a good hockey player! Look I played in the WHL and IHL, I know dressing rooms, (frank) the Sedins and their "this our room" attitude.

He is a coward and quit on the team. The Sedin's didn't ask him to leave. For a guy that pretends he is a tough hockey player you sure are taking an unusual stance.

So Linden and Co are fools for lack of communication with their assets. WD said the room was great, so he must have been lying as well

Maybe they guaranteed him a spot on the olympic roster?

Maybe you should open your eyes up and realize its time to change the guys in the room who are of the opinion this guy and that guy doesn't fit in. Pretty sick and tired of the vets dictating who fits in and who doesn't while they finish at the bottom of the league. Inmates running the asylum.

The whole room and organization needs a house cleaning if we're being honest.

Now that's going the way of the Oilers, that's a scary thought. If we start doing that every couple of yrs we will never get back to being relevant and making the playoffs.

Hey I understand he's as much to blame here, not once did I say this is 100% on management, what I said was, it's just another step back for the franchise that had a great opportunity to rebuild this team.

I loved how they said they are going to be 65-70 point players next year at the end of year meetings.

The "nice guy" team personality doesn't work. The canucks have had their most success when they were aggressive, a little dirty, and antagonizing. Whether it was during the Bure/Odjick years, Burke years, or during the Gillis years.

This team had a well deserved rep and it worked for them.

I'm with you, there are red flags to what's happened. That is why I don't think icetime told the whole story.

I guess Makita that's what happens in a hockey forum where you have 100+ posters with their own opinions. Chaos!

we don't have a patient fanbase....I think the team should move to Seattle for 5 years while they rebuild and then return when they are competitive. Everyone wins

I'll start here....everyone is incredibly uninformed and jumping to conclusions...just like that idiot Botchford.

Some of you may remember that I stated a week ago that the KHL was a possibility as Tree was HATED in the room. well, now you know the source is correct.

Tree came into camp out of shape with a bad attitude. He refused to play in the AHL and his teammates resented that. Benning spent all season trying to cater to the guys feelings as he disliked Willie. Tree was hated in the room all season. He thinks he deserves to be on the top pairing and he doesn't respect his teammates. At one point, a player glove punched him in the face and his tears were welling up on the bench. Lidster laid into him for being a coward. The players all thought he was a p*ssy, yes even Horvat!

Benning was the one guy that stuck by him and tried to keep him around. They even fired the coach! Tree has shown his true colors and the Canucks don't need somebody like him in the room.

People should get their facts straight before going full B!tchford.

That's a big scoop. How did this get hidden with all the eyes watching during a game?

Anyway, from what you described, it sounds like an entitled vet attitude like a Sutter with his big pair comments and loaded contract. If we had tough vets that laid it on the line and stuck up for other players then they would be justified laying it down. But do you see that? Hard for the youth to respect it.

I didn't see Tree disrespect or let down his guys on the ice. Not sure if he was appreciated enough in the end. How his role would be going forward seemed uncertain to him.

If everyone was saying Tree and Bo were the only keepers and not tradable. Then Tree wasn't getting that verified. It's not entitlement if you work hard and have the better talent and skill to want to develop it.

Plus the big motivator $! Maybe something got lost in translation. Either way is this a good sign? You think vet players that are fracking with development of the youth curtailes entitlement? Like the vets have earned it? Are they not the biggest draw back on this team?

Plus management didn't get coaching in line. Which for a player with options means he doesn't need to roll the dice again. He can wait it out elsewhere to sort itself. While getting what he needs now.

Absolutely, it is also a bit comical, but hey as I said before, this group is becoming united as one.
