You are the only one who keeps bringing up their 3rd and 4th line scoring ...when you have Bennett versteeg Brouwer on your 3rd and 4th lines you don't have issues ...not to mention the secondary scoring from the back end they get ...the only trouble they have is goaltending ...that's been the issue anytime they've struggled this year
- Redmile247

lol...hardly. But all good Red I'm in denial about a lot of things Canucks too, but you actually just made my point for me with the three you mentioned. Versteeg maybe being the exception as he looked ok but Brouwer-Bennett-Stajan combined for a grand total...wait for it...4 big points in 4 PO games. But you believe what you gotta believe all good.

I actually don't think the D is a huge issue in Calgary other than just dumb dumb freakin penalties all the time. But it is apparent they will need another top 4 guy.

But yes Goaltending seems to be a massive nemesis there. Thought Elliott was past his demons with his play the final two months of the season but maybe he just isn't a PO goalie.

And if you'll also recall from the start of the year I recommended Bishop and not Elliott in Calgary...just sayin'.

Guess they better sell off and rebuild ...no where to go but down now

- Redmile247

Flames have drafted pretty well but drafting is only a small part of what goes into building a solid PO team...many many intangibles moving forward.

This looks bad on management, but (frank) him. Not enough ice time? It was his rookie season.
- CubanBuffet

I think if management kept Willie around then it would look bad on them, but Tryamkin obviously wasnt waiting around to get that fresh start under a new coach. I dont like labeling players entitled, as they usually just want to play and arent always the brightest in understanding why they arent, but expecting 20 minutes a night as a rookie was lofty goals

No one will want to be here if the team is tanked into the ground and youth kept off the roster to favor journeyman vets. Just because you draft someone doesn't mean they will be around forever. Players have more options and avenues on how to develop their careers these days. If they see it will be stifled by a shut the door for years mentality, that the tankers advocate, then this team is doomed.

you're being dramatic. Tryamkin isn't make or break. Nichushkin left and stars still retain. Sobotka left and Blues still retained and brought him back. The sky isn't falling.

Just more egg on Benning Linden and Aquilini's face. That 2014 draft that I thought could be their best ever turns out to be just blah

Regardless, this looks bad. He wasn't a liabilty and why Larsen got 1 minute of ice time is beyond me. What a clusterf*ck!

No but this is a significant step back in the rebuild. Hopefully he's back... it's like when the Hulk goes into hiding when you need him most. Tree mad

Hopefully Tryamkin learned a few things while he was here and can continue working on them back home. The team is not going to be good for a couple years, so let him develop and treat it like an AHL assignment. Worst thing though would be if he gets into his old habits, like being out of shape, and becomes a worse Hal Gill instead of a Chara (if/when he returns)

But Lefty said they are doing a great rebuild tanking for picks and all.

Guess them Eichel singing rumors have something to it. Can't frack around not being competitive.

Sustained years of Tanking destroys teams. You can get away with it for one maybe two years. Otherwise, you are not in a rebuild and players want out. Forcing teams to overpay as a temp bandaid. It's just not sustainable.

Teams stuck in that for years to be poopty and just drafting in top 5 does not lead to development and rebuilding. That's a recipe for futility.

Depth wise it is a pretty sizable blow.

Assuming Vegas selects Sbisa, we lose two top six D-man for nothing. Our "position of strength" seemingly becomes yet another area devoid of depth, thus preventing the team from exploring trade options (Edler, Tanev, Hutton) from the back end.

Honestly, how hard would it have been to simply talk to the kid.
"Look buddy, I understand that coaching and ice-time was an issue, as such, we are getting a new coach and after your first successful season, we will explore your deployment options next season".

"Oh and hey, here's a shiny new, multi-million dollar contract"...

(frank) me. It's always one step forward, two steps back with these yahoo's at the helm.

Remember that Boston game. Edler gets walked by Marchand and after the game WD blasts Tree. Saying if he was tougher that would't have happend? Something like that anyway. Everyone was like....um Edler got walked. Sedin got walked. That was probably the last straw.

So here's the thing. WD is gone. Tree still left. You would think he'd stick around to see who the new coach would be. Unless:

* He just wants more money
* He wants to play in the olympics

Either way the Canucks just got kicked while they were down. This sucks arse.

Looks to me that he is just too impatient on hitting that big payday in the NHL. f*#! Russians.

Even if the Eichel rumours are only part true, it's pretty scary when these kids who are still on their ELC have this kind of influence on an organization.

Eichel strikes me as a whiny entitled douche brat.
