My response was to some one apologizing to us about having Bernier for a season... What does your comment even mean?
- ducks4thewin

Fry wasn't apologizing to you about Bernier(why would he?) he was responding to - dozerD10's suggestion that Calgary look at Bernier next year.

You went on to comment how good Bernier was down the stretch to which I responded by saying Elliott did the same for us.

Pretty straightforward if you ask me.

Good year guys! Worst reffed series I've ever seen. Oh well, good on the ducks. At least theyre rested for series 2 now.

Worst Goalied series I can remember. What 7 gifted goals in a little over two games ? I feel bad for Elliott but BT has some work to do in the off season.

Well, the good news is they'll be able to sign Elliott for millions less because of like 1.3 games.

Good series. Ducks got some breaks, that's for sure. Calgary has a bright future.

What has to be somewhat disconcerning to Calgary is the Ducks won without their #1 and #3 D. If Fowler stays with the Ducks, you have Fowler, Lindholm, Theodore, Montour, Manson, as your top 5, with Fowler and Manson the old guys at 25.

Then throw in our goalie who is only 23. Ducks are going to be tough too. Calgary needs a goalie. Elliott was horrendous. That first goal was brutal, and really took all the momentum away from your team. Hindsight being 50/50, Johnson should have started.

Streak ends next year. Bank on it.

As long as he gets a new contract. Which I think he should. poopty end to an up and down season. Should be better, and more consistent next season Few holes to fill, should be an eventful offseason.

We all said that if we got better goaltending this year we would be a playoff team ...and we did ..and we were ...so as disheartening as this series was it's around where many hoped or predicted ...you could argue that they were the better team 3/4 games so at least they didn't get dismantled and outplayed ...they showed up and can learn from this

Go get one of Bishop, Fleury, Darling, Raanta or Grubauer.

He was a major reason we got in though

It just proves that you need a legit #1

Yeah, but if he was amazing in the playoffs this year, he could have asked for 5-6 million a season. Now he'll likely get 3-4. I still think he's the best option for the Flames though. Murray would be interesting to think about, but the ask would be astronomical.

Agreed. They need a legit no. 1. This team needs to spend some cash on a goalie.

Not gonna lie, this brought me a little solace after last nights ass kicking.
Pretty good season for your boys, Some solid goaltending and this could have been a 7 game series.

They got room pre-Vegas draft to protect a goalie so make the move for MAF.

Bishop is too big a risk. I don't think he's much of an upgrade and he's going to want way to much money. Flames shouldn't be in a bidding war for a 31 year old injury prone goalie coming off a down year.

Fleury? I'm guessing you missed the Penguins last couple games. How is that any better than what Elliott?

The Flames have some amazing goalie prospects that are going to be needing NHL time soon. I wouldn't be giving up assets to take a risk on a young backup goalie who's done well on an elite team.

Elliott is still probably the best option.

A guy in eks thread figures Rask could be available so that the bruins can protect Subban. Then sign one of the Ufa's until he's ready to take over. Seems like quite a stretch, and a huge risk, to me. Interesting though. I also think Schneider could be had. He's waisting away in NJ. They'd be smart to trade him before its too late. Both very expensive options, and have long contacts, so probably not worth it.

He named five backups, two of them lost their spot to younger guys. How are any of them legit number ones?

I like Fleury and Bishop in that order. Fleury has been averaging around 60 games in recent years and so has Bishop. They are available because they are both the 2nd best no. 1's on their teams.

Dude

Bishop is a legit one in every sense of the definition.

Fleury lost his to a kid who went unconscious and got himself a ring in his rookie year

Plus- the economics of keeping the young guys on top end teams trying to keep their core. In both instances.

Is Dougie Hamilton not a top pairing guy cause he often didn't play on your top pairing ? Pretty similar argument. The bolts and pens going with vasilrvski and Murray doesn't change how good the two vets are

Bishop and fleury are far superior to elliot

And who is this Marita person you are calling a tool??

Watch the last two Penguins games and tell me that's the goalie you think the Flames can win in the playoffs with. Elliott also had better numbers than both of them this year.

So why should the Flames be paying them when they have Gilles, Rittich, and Parsons in the system?

Fleury has won in The playoffs. Since you made the argument and all.
Bishops been a huge part of consecutive deep runs (Eastern and cup finals)
