I'd say their D have already been the most felt presence after Holtby. Big stand outs for me on the Caps side so far are:
Holtby
Carlson and Shats
Oshie diving 10x more than Kadri (Wilson about 5x more)
Williams being dangerous most shifts
Orpik being a dirtbag
Edit: More to this, you can tell how teams play the Leafs because they lack a dangerous shot on the point. They basically sit no higher than the circles in their end because they know a Gardiner or Rielly will walk in instead of let clappers go.l - markmark
You know what I just realized?
JVR isn't diving anymore like Greg Louganis.

Those stats are extremely flawed.
For example
He plays against top level competition.
Marincin does not.
Marincin's advances stats are better. But who's better ? - Santo_44
Fair, but this includes games where he was injured, and did not play...ie., someone else would cover his top line minutes right? |

Why? Why? Do you come here and try to rile the masses?
And afterwards try to put out a spiel that you aren't trolling? - the_eye

Couldn't ever imagine wasting time in another team's blog trolling.
Especially when my team sucks, are out of the playoffs and on the verge of a 10 year rebuild with morons for management.
Maybe it's because only a complete loser would do that! |

I wonder if and when the Caps depth on D will make its presence felt... or will Freddie continue to stymie the Caps??? - kaptaan
Your post has failed logic.
If the Caps' depth on D makes its presence felt, what would that have to do with Freddie continuing to stymie their offence? |

Their defense has seemed very slow to me. Leafs are doing a great job pressuring them. |

Yikes.

All those stats show is that he probably shouldn't be getting shutdown minutes. Would like to see the shutdown pairs stats when he isn't playing rather than the stats for the entire team. |

Picking up on your post from last blog:
I was hanging out at the finish line of a Santa 5k run (every single runner is required to wear a Santa suit). I"m waiting for my 78 year old mother to finish.
Up comes a morbidly obese woman clearly struggling to make it to the finish. She is working hard, so I start shouting encouragement. "C'mon, bib #2454 - you got this! Only 100 meters to go!"
She stops, grabs a railing, and pukes. Like, the Niagara Falls of vomit.
I wait a couple of seconds to let her recollect her dignity, and then I start shouting encouragement again. "C'mon, #2454 - finish strong - only 80 meters to go!"
She stops again....and pukes some more. I don't know how she had that much in her stomach - I thought she had emptied it with 100 meters to go.
I was about to continue to shout encouragement, but I realized she really didn't want any more attention, so I just shut up and watched her walk the final 80 meters.
And my mom won her age group, so it was a good race. |

I was thinking more on the offensive side of the puck for them. Shats can carry the puck into the offensive zone very effectively and Carlson works the blue line really really well (and also has a great shot). |

It's kinda become a grade 4 boy act.
"Leafs are going to lose their next 6 games!"
Leafs win their next game.
"Leafs are going to miss the playoffs!"
Leafs make the playoffs.
"Leafs are going to be embarrassed by Washington!"
Leafs take Washington to overtime in 1st game.
"Leafs will be swept!"
Leafs win game 2.
But he's not trolling, and he doesn't hate the Leafs. He's merely gracing us with both his presence and his highly intelligent opinions.
And for that, I feel particularly lucky, because I seem to recall a certain kitty swearing that if the Leafs made the playoffs, he wouldn't show up in Leafs blogs until the summer.

I was a little embarrassed but only because the lady cop was there. I explained it was mostly bourbon and electrolytes.
I learned a good lesson that day. I was about to get caught by the chase car right before the 10k. With about 500-600m to go I started sprinting. As soon as I came to a complete stop just past the 10k marker, my body was not happy. I didn't even get the "oh god I'm going to puke" sensation. I just get weak legs and projectile vomit.
While we're on the topic, in the same year I learned I am prone to sea sickness! Bonus fact, sea sickness IS NOT just vomiting! |

In the history of the English language, this is the first time those two words have been paired.

It'll be a lot of long summers for the Canucks! But that's part of the rebuilding prosess, unfortunately for them unless they win the lottery next year? Their looking at 3-5 years to make the playoffs, and 5-7to contend? Theirs no mcdavid matthews Eichel or Mackinnon coming up the pipeline |
