I watched first 2 periods of Canada vs Finland. Canada's D is so bad. Then I changed to watch the USA vs Sweden game. Watched till it was 4-1 USA.

Vesalainen's gotta be shooting up draft boards... He's dominating this tournament.

Yes, Hutton for me. He was his own worst enemy having a solid rookie season. Just like the fan base, management got all excited and their expectations overblown. I'd hate to see Hutton skills decline because of poor development. I think that happen a lot in the NHL.

Gilbert Brule is the poster boy for poor development. (frank)ed his career up. That's why I don't listen to a word Doug MacLean says.

Hutton should have spent this year in the AHL, but ya, he didn't because they wanted to "compete"

Easily....just tell him you want him to develop in the minors more. If he's got 15 goals in the first 25 games call him up and say, ok, he's ready.

I want to watch Boeser play and I am not convinced the AHL is better for his development. If the kids earn a roster spot let them play

For sure, if he knocks it outta the park at camp then he's earned a look. I see holes in his game though. He needs to be stronger and he needs to pick up a step.

Excited about having him though

He is a way better prospect than Liljegren

Yes, they have made some mistakes but at least the prospect pool is getting deeper. I think the team hit rock bottom this year and will start trending up after this draft. I hope that's the case anyways
- CanuckDon

I think we will see another dip when the Twins retire. That will be rock bottom and then we will start trending upward. I'm hoping that upward trend will be sharp because JB has been stocking and developing young, skilled players while the twins are still here. Hopefully there will be a gem or two in that pool that will be ready to step into a dominating first line roll.

any thoughts on Glass or Heiskanen today? no tv access unfortunately
- CanuckDon

Glass was much more noticeable in the first game. Heiskanen looks good. Smart hockey player. Same mold as OJ. Not going to destroy you in the corner but will separate you from the puck. He's not going to stand out either PP or 5v5. Just plays a solid simple game.

Entwhistle, storme, ratcliffe would in a better draft year, be probably mid 2nd rounders.

If he can add a step in the summer he could be lethal such a smart player

If your the GM and you are relying on Hutton to stay competitive then you don't know what you are (frank)ing doing.

He started off by being projected top 10. Had a bad WJC. Got loaned back to a team in Finland. Kind of been an up down year for him.

Clayton Keller last season until this tournament was maybe a top 20 pick. Reason why Arizona took him at 7 was because "he was just that good" at this tournament. So clearly scouts take note of these kids last chance to show what they got.

I've seen him play in PERSON

He is good. He knows where to be. A half a year in the AHL to get accustomed to playing higher minutes on a regular basis. An extra day and extra practices. I don't think it would hurt him at all. Taking things slowly.

Not every player needs to go to the 'A'. Boeser and Stecher have shown they will be fine up here and contribute.

Van should walk into next years draft with 10 picks in the first 2 rounds.
Sell the idea to FA's that they will be traded at the deadline and have a chance at a cup.

Isn't the Canucks 1st round pick already slotted into next seasons top line?

A lot of second guessing on player development and assumptions on whose ready or not 5 months away from camp. That's some insight and foresight.

I had to invest in a vomit protecting screen for my laptop.

This team is going to be absolute sh*t for the next few seasons. I hope it drives a some of the precious & fragile 'fans' away.

If management came out and said we are committed to building a winning team prior to camp. Then sent all young players to Utica that can clear waivers. Traded any vet they could for draft picks. Signed a bunch of desperate UFA's to short term contracts. Sat back and scouted for 2018. How long do you give them until getting fired?

Actually, pretty much everyone except for Patrick White.

Even the idiots knew he was a bust.
