The Caps are doing a lot of chasing too. It's got to be tiring. Like someone said earlier, it's been pretty similar to our series with them last year.....although I think our team D structure was much better.

I'll say it again, I'm really impressed with Andersen. He's been excellent.

Yea Leafs are a lot of fun to watch. Anderson has been very good. I don't want to play the leafs because I think it would be a cake walk but because I think it would be highly entertaining. Plus that would mean the Caps would've won the presidents trophy and got knocked out early again.

Doesn't the Ottawa owner not like spending his own money? Phaneuf just scored a match winning goal, & is a leading Dman, Ryan ok but I very much doubt Hawks ownership want him on their team. I'm not convinced the Sens would take on Toews contract despite his 58 points. For 10m+, 58 points is pretty miserable despite his 'leadership'.

I doubt you will get an organisation that will do that trade as the Hawks won't want what is coming back, & any team wanting that contract, well, won't want that contract in my opinion.

- Aussiepenguin

I think they'd do Ryan for him straight up. You didn't say would the Hawks do it, that's a different story.

Phaneuf is racking up the minutes & starting to give them points as well. I'm not saying the Sens wouldn't do the trade bug as I said they need him at the moment.

My initial point I was trying to make badly it seems, was if a team would actively trade for Toews, not trade their rubbish contracts. If Sid became available I believe there would be a very good market, I don't think the same can be said for Toews. Kane on the other hand.....

- Aussiepenguin

Oh ok. I feel like it could go either way. There shouldn't be a bullish market, but a lot of GMs overvalue the stuff Toews has a reputation for.

The Blackhawks just happened to have their two best players contracts come up at the very peak of the market. Bad as that contract is, plenty of teams would love to trade for him still. I imagine Winnipeg would love to have him and would send back Trouba+.

Save your breath in discussing the similarities between CHI and PITT over on their thread. I made a valid point and got told the only reason Mario bought the Pens was the Sid draft was rigged and pre-determined.

Dangerous game for the Pens tonight against a desperate team.

If the Pens start to run away with this game and the Jackets are on the verge of a sweep and embarrassment at home, you can bet that CLB be out for blood and looking to take a few Pens down.

I thought the Hawks got jobbed last night. Same with the Bruins. Awful reffing. That goal Nashville scored was waived off all season for goalie interference. The penalty call on the Bruins was laughable considering what has been "let go" in the post season.

I think the reffing and even the linesmen are having an awful post season so far. Terrible.

- madmike71

I thought Crawford was way out of his crease and like the analyst said, the offensive player has a right to that spot on the ice. As for the Nash penalty, yeah, that stuff goes on a lot, but that was a straight up punch to the face well after the play was over and the puck was gone. Ryan sold it (like he does) but the onus is on the player not to put himself in a position to get called for a retaliatory penalty, especially one as blatant as that. But yes, I wish they would call all of it.

Now the linesmen are another story. Some plays are fast and hard to tell like offsides, but they are getting the slow icing calls wrong...a lot.

What did you expect? Their own blogger said before this season began that Toews was the best center in the entire NHL.

In an nhl I want to watch, that play on the tying Nashville goal is never ever ever goaltender interference. The goaltender is not a god. Crawford left his crease to make a save and wondered into an area of the ice where skaters have a claim to it. If that is goaltender interference than so was shearys play on Bob where he rubbed him behind the net and stole the puck...if he doesn't do that then Bob can get back and make a save. If the tender leaves the crease..he may get knocked a bit simple as that.

I doubt that. Even the Flyers don't stoop to that when the series is all but over.

That was a hard blog to read. The worst was that he was dead serious and brought Crosby into the equation to try and justify it. If you're a homer Chicago fan that wants to ignore the rest of the hockey world and declare Toews the best, fine. You're just uneducated. But if you're going to acknowledge how great of a player Sid is and still draw the conclusion that Toews is objectively the best player in the league, then you're just stupid.

Yeah, they pulled that poop game 2, adjusted and tried to skate/score with us game 3, if they can't figure it out for game 4.... they'll roll over and show their bellies.

Plus, I think Torts has a little more respect for MS than that.

I agree. With Torts changes of putting Quincey back in and taking out Hartnell and Harrington, I feel Torts is reconsidering his strategy and trying to focus on speed. I think as a whole, the pens shouldn't expect anything dirty from the bulk of the team. But if things look bleak in the 3rd, you bet we can see Dubinsky or Jenner involved in some post-whistle scraps

Of the top five scorers to this point the Pens have 3, Malkin leading with six, Sid and Guentzel both have five. Um, wow.

If they go dirtying it up they'll end up in the box...and the Pens PP has looked great even when they dont score. They are creating a lot of chances and gaining momentum from it.
