Well he is a bit spastic at times and falls on his own. The big difference is when you watch him retrieving pucks along the boards; that's where his mass serves him well. Guentzel isn't bad at per-se, but more times than most he has to pass the puck from along the boards rather that skate out with it. - Rinosaur
Yeah I don't really care if he passes it or skates it out as long as it ends in the back of the net.. and it has been. So I'm not really too worried about Guentzel changing anything. Hahaha |

I'm not worried about it. I said I'm fine if he stays where he is, but it if he put on a little mass it wouldn't hurt.

When you think about it, Letang and Ian Cole are really the same player if you don't count skating, passing, ability to read plays, shooting, and body checking. I mean, they both have 2 eyes and legs. - jmatchett383

Is 5-10 lbs really going to make a difference? (Not being a Richard, honest question.) - j.boyd919
Actually yes, in my opinion.
Jake is listed at 180, 5'11... comparing him to three other players on our team for example
Wilson - 186, 5'11
Bonino - 196, 6'1
Crosby - 200, 5'11
I think most would agree Bonino and Crosby do not get shoved around much at all, but that would be having Jake put on 15-20, which I am against.
So, looking at Wilson... 6 pounds more and I don't see him being pushed around much at all if even.
Jake is simply in that weight zone where a few more pounds gives him just enough to keep steady against larger players. So I do believe 5-10 without losing any speed would make a solid difference.
Editing to add in heights, since I did use it as a counter point in the post below...
Sheary, Guetz, and Archibald were our three smallest players this season, Archibald at 5'10 176... best comparison to Guetz's size being near identical in height. |
|
|
|
It's about his mass. 5 lbs of muscle will increase his mass and give him a little more strength along the boards.
Look at Sheary. Yeah, he gets knocked around sometimes, but overall he doesn't get pushed around so easily and he's 8lbs heavier than Gman, but 2 inches shorter. That extra mass goes a long way. - Rinosaur
Side note.... you're 100% wrong about Sheary's size... hes listed at 5 pounds lighter than Jake, and hes muscled at times as well. However, he is three inches shorter than Jake as well... lower center of gravity is what makes up for that it seems.

I just feel like... the kid's got 38 points in 43 games. I wouldn't ask him to change a thing. No weight, no diet, nothing. Just keep doin Jake.

If you took Hossa out of the trade, it was Colby Armstrong, Erik Christensen, Angelo Esposito, and a 1st (Daultan Leveille) for Pascal Dupuis. Looking back, would you do that trade right now, just for Dupuis? |

Oh don't get me wrong, I love Sheary, and I think he's a stud, but (frank) does he fall over a lot. He's on the ice like 4-5 times a game. hahaha - j.boyd919
Sheary does wipe out a lot on his own but he does get up faster than anybody I've ever seen. And he does it while still having forward momentum |

So when you typed that you didn't realize how that comment could be misconstrued as a back-handed insult?... As if Sid wouldn't stand up for himself from a dirty hit?
Classic mix-up then, I suppose. My apologies. - stowerkraut
But I said he seemed mad until he saw it was #17, which sort of makes your implication unfeasible. But to answer your question, no, when I typed that I construed it as Crosby getting slewfooted, goes down with a seemingly mad expression, realizes it's (frank)ing Dubinsky, and seems to shrug it off as Dubi being Dubi, aka running around like an idiot.
Either way, Dubi is an idiot. Crosby is the best. Is that clearererer? |
