My Ambien is kicking in pretty hardcore right now, but is that Jamie McGinn with Ennis, ROR and Foligno? The sunglasses are throwing me off.

Foligno for McGinn Arizona holds $1M, and Arizona's 3rd. At least this way someone that doesn't have stone hands can play with Jack, and maybe be his Kunitz.

Tyler Ennis has a very infuriating face. Very punchable.

What's Zaitsev going to get? At least $5M probably, yeah? Hyman and Brown won't get a ton, but probably $7M ish between them. They're not going to have a ton of room, but they'll have more than I thought they were.

Zaitsev's supposed to be 4.5mil for 7 yrs (might be slightly pricey now, but that's a cheap contract 3+ years forward)

Neither Hyman nor Brown will be anywhere near 3.5 mil each. You'd be closer if you said 4.5mil for both. They're 3rd liners coming out of their entry level contracts with 1 year of NHL experience.

Brown's got 36 points (can maybe hit 50 with more ice time in a year or 2) and Hyman's a hard working grinder with stone hands (only 28 points while playing with Matthews, imagine him with a no name center).

Those are not 3.5 mil players, and most definitely not on RFA contracts.

Hyman's coming off 900k, probably a 1.5mil-1.8 mil promotion and Brown is coming off 660k, probably with a 1.7-2.3 mil promotion.

Toronto learned their lesson during the Nonis years with bad contract. Phaneuf at 7.5 mil a year, Kessel at 8, Clarkson at 5 mil. Those days are over.

Since Shanahan took over and brought Lamoriello they signed Kadri for 4.5mil over 6 years, Reily for 5mil / 6 yrs, Hunwick at 1.2, Polak at 2.2, Zaitsev at 900k.

Lamoriello does not like to make it rain, not even on Matthews.

Hell, they traded Polak last year to the Sharks for 2 second round picks and a 3rd, then re-signed him.

It really does boil down to a proper management group. Comparing the Burke/Nonis era to Shanahan/Lou is night and day thus far (talking money management alone, nevermind the drafting).

I'm clearly in the minority but I could care less whether the Leafs suck, win the Cup, or anything in the middle. I'm a Sabres fan and that is the only team I care about.

What are you talking about? They can barely afford to sign Brown and Hyman this year. And that's with letting Boyle and Polak go without replacing them. They basically have to trade JVR to have any hope of signing Nylander after next year, and then are they going to magic up like $14M for Matthews and Marner the year after?

I'm not going to say they're in cap hell, but they've got a ton of work to do to avoid it.

Leafs are fine with the cap lots coming off the books and they can always use the injury cap space as well,sorry just seen that post!I know it was old lol and the Sabres will be back next year injury free and kick ass!

The Bisons are in first place, so we have that going for us, which is nice.
