Heart breaking game tonight. Though Calgary deserves props for their fans. Stadium was packed at puck drop with a sea of red. Beyond that you couldn't tell the difference when it was 4-1 or when the game went to overtime with how loud the fans were cheering. Being from the land where people arrive midway through the first and leave with five minutes to go regardless the score it was awesome to see.

Calgary will (hopefully) hold serve at home just on the strength of the fans alone. Plus ducks could use the extra seasoning for their young d against a quality opponent like Calgary.

Hopefully they take a few things from that game . I understand the play the 200ft game and protect the lead. But this is playoffs. You caan definitely see when they took the foot off the gas.
Regardless of the calls on the ice or lack there of. They now (hopefully not too late) that they are not giving anything in this legue.
Kinda was hoping that some of the never give up attitude that Bob Hartley had instilled when he was at the helm would spilled over to the "veteran" calgary players.
My hopes is that Johnson just pulls consecutive shutouts or rock solid and then calgary does like LA did few years back when they just couldn't lose lol. Wishful thinking but hell it's the nhl. Anything can happen

Btw. The refereeing this whole series has been confusing as to what's allowed to go on . That doesn't help

That goal looked above the cross bar. I don't know if it would have helped because momentum shifted to Anaheim. Ducks got a lot of good bounces this series.

That goal was like their first shot of the period...they had no momentum until that BS goal counted

Yep. Wind was out of our sails after that. Sucks but that is how it appeared.

I think I'm more mad that I stayed up until 12:45 AM EST to watch them crumble than the loss itself.

I take back what I said about Elliott and a potential contract next year. Don't give that guy more than 3.75 a year for no more than 3. What a sieve last night.

Our goalie let in 5 bad goals in the last 2 games. You don't win when that happens. I kind of feel bad for him but I'd feel worse if he was sitting on a fat new contract from BT.

Why couldn't have Elliot played like this Iin last year's playoffs , Hawks could have won a series and you guys could have went aafter a better goalie.
Least you have a young team and have Some cap space? Hawks look like we're going to be trapped in mediocre for some years now.

I'd rather be losing to the Hawks than the Ducks. I'm over the Flames' luck being so goddamn bad against the Ducks. Bad luck combined with poopty goaltending is the recipe for disaster.

They played so well in the first, second, and first half of the third then crumbled. It probably could've been 6-0 in the second but because of the sieve that was Brian Elliott last night and bad bounces, the Ducks were still in the game.

Tough loss. Elliot absolutely folded last night. He was complaining on the 4th goal and no one was near him.

along with a questionable high stick goal.

I sincerely hope they don't bring him back. He has looked bad this post season and you don't win in the playoffs with that kind of goaltending.

I said it when I went to the game in Carolina, he doesn't look calm at all in net. It's not even a controlled chaos like Hasek, it's just like minor, terrible adjustments in his positioning. His rebound control has been poop in the playoffs.

Based on his play last night, they might as well of had Ramo in net. (frank) it, put in Gillies and give him a shot. He damn sure can't do any worse than Elliott did last night.

I'm definitely over-reacting a little bit because I think he's a decent goalie but the last two games are fresh in my mind and I'm going to vent. There's no consistency in his game. One game he's lights out, the next 4 he's terrible, then he'll be good for 10 straight.

He looked rattled from the opening face off. Just didn't seem to be able to play his game. Was it the pressure of the big game ? Not sure but I had a feeling all night that he won't stand up if they get anything going against him.

I've never been to Calgary. They seem like good fans though. Not realistic. But good fans. And i totally agree with your coment on leaving early. You know i went to game 1 and knowing it would be a late game and crazy traffic (which is usual in California) i took the day off the next day. Me and my bros. We both where crazy at that game. Its been a bad habit of orange county sports fans for decades. But the only thing i can do is call out other fans. It seems rude but i can't think of any other way
Addendum: i can see being late. Because of work or family and defiantly traffic. But whats another 10 or fifteen minutes. Thats where ducksfan89 is wrong. Is a major commitment to go to a game sometimes. We have the population of new york, boston or , Chicago. But we don't have the mass transite or major metropolitan areas. So everything is a hour to 2 hours away at least
