Just waiting for my dance partner haha. I have a weird feeling he thinks I don't like him, when at the end of the day there are no hard feelings.

Out for some fishing in a bit, getting out of the city.

The Leafs were blessed with a true franchise center in Matthews and having Babcock as coach helps. Also lets face it they along with Sens, and the Bruins who are experienced as hell too, were all blessed to play in the Atlantic Division. The top 3 teams in the East and 4 of the top 5 were in the Metro this year, that really put the Flyers behind the 8 ball right from the get go.

These are true statements, but damn, Big. Gotta find a way to run one of them down for 8th. You gotta find a way

But they didn't. So. On to next year. Damn it

Neuvirth was great for the first 2-3 months of last season and has been bad/injured since then, but it's almost like the team expects him to regain that form and remain healthy when nothing in his past suggests that can happen.

The goalie market has become more of a buyer's market at this point, so I assume they'll find someone decent on a 2-3 year deal. There are always starting caliber goalies who can be had for a 2nd rounder as well. I just don't think Hexy wants to go that route.

- PhillySportsGuy

I won't lie: I'd see what's up with Bishop. You're not bringing Mason back. You can't believe that Neuvrirth's the answer when you're sitting at home when the playoffs are going on. So you gotta ask Bishop what his number is

Hextall has seemed pretty clear that he doesn't plan on signing any D UFAs. In the media day videos he admitted having 8 defensemen this season was not ideal, and said that was one of the things he thinks he could have done differently.

I agree with others that if a D UFA is signed it will be an emergency signing during camp, which won't be good.

The article on the Flyers site again makes it seem the plan is to let the kids fight for the open D spots...

https://www.nhl.com/flyer...elphia-flyers/c-288780816

From the article:

"There's always guys later in training camp or tryouts that can come in, just in case you miscalculate. We'll look at all our options, but our kids, first and foremost. A certain number of them are at a level now that they're going to get a long look."

...

The trade of Mark Streit and the decisions to not re-sign Michael Del Zotto and Nick Schultz leaves open spots on defense that will not, Hextall says, be filled with veteran signings. There is no room for that, either cap wise or in three defensive pairs.

"We don't plan on going out and signing veterans on the back end," said Hextall. "Our kids, it's time to give them a shot, and we're going to do that.

Bishop is aight. I'd be down but for short team only. 3 years max, ideally 2. Which is why I dont think it happens.

It doesn't make sense to sign him to a mega contract with seemingly so much focus being put on young goaltender development. Stolarz and Lyon will deserve a shot at some point in my eyes. Can't only give chances to 1st round picks.

Bishop has that injury history and was beaten out by a kid himself. No Bryzgalov deal please.

Those are the exact quotes that make me believe it's a four man competition for 2 spots and then Manning or AMac become number 7 based on how the battle royale between Hagg, Morin, Sanheim and Myers works out. Oh is camp going to be fun.

I'd totally love it if game 1 we see:

Provy-Amac
Gudas-Hagg
Ghost-Morin
Manning in the press box.

Or dear god let this happen:
Provy-Hagg
Gudas-Myers
Ghost-Morin
Amac in the press box and Manning in Lehigh or the other way if you fear Manning getting claimed.

(frank) it

I expect both Morin and Hagg to make the team next season and have no problems at all. They'll both fit seamlessly as top-6 everyday players and neither one will have any major issues at all.

/end, move on.

- jmatchett383

Okay, now it is time to beat Sanheim / Myers' potential to play 82 games to death too.

I'm curious how G looks next year. If anything even remote to the Claude we saw this season is the new reality, there is a huge hole to fill.

I think they expected G to keep going for a few more years without having to address his position.

Wonder a little about Galchenyuk (sp?).

- flyer_nutter

Maybe with a decent summer workout Claude can return to a respectable form.

Provorov-Amac
Gudas-Hagg
Ghost-Morin
Manning

That's exactly what I'd expect pairings to be opening night as well assuming Morin and Hagg play up to the expectations of the club in camp.

It will be interesting to see what happens if Myers looks better than both Morin and Hagg in camp. I thought Provorov was the only kid who looked better than Myers last pre-season. And what happens if Sanheim is banging on the door in camp too? Camp should be fun this year.

Also, although probably a very slim chance something worth considering...

MacDonald didn't look awful the 2nd half of the year playing with Provorov. If Hextall really hates MacDonald's contract, maybe he protects Ghost Gudas Manning and maybe Vegas takes MacDonald instead of one of our forwards. I still think it's most likely that it will be one of Read, Raffl, or Weisse though. Weisse only a possibility because of his strong finish.

If the kids really play well we could end up with a 6 man battle for 4 spots. That brings in my edit above.

How about we drop Schenn down to 2nd PP and roll with that complete line.

Now the trick is who fills Schenn's spot to try to do the Fartsmell shoot off pass from G. I defer to the hungover GMs here.

We trade Provorov for Draisaitl and move G down to the second unit.

I'll just let this quote from Mike Sielski's piece on philly.com sit here

"Ivan's game is so mature," defenseman Shayne Gostisbehere said. "He has no risk in his game. He's just so sound. The way he plays makes it look so easy, and it [ticks] people off. But just the things he does are unbelievable. He's awesome to watch. He makes the breakout look so easy. He's a great player and a great kid, and he's a great professional. He's only 20, and I'm like, this guy makes me look bad sometimes because he's so smooth. I don't see Provy having any problems next year. If he does, they'll be minor."
