they also already had a franchise guy in Weber and now Subban. No way I move Provorov - nastyflyergirl
They also had Roman Josi.
But yeah, if we had a guy like Pronger in his prime, it does make Provorov more expendable. |

But we have their equals in Hagg and Morin, who are locks to make the team and succeed next year. |

Yeah.
But until they actually do it their just prospects.
Also the Oilers didn't really move forward with all the centers they took until they got a generational talent like McDavid.
I am not sure Draisitl is on that level.
I am with you. I only move Provorov for mcdavid unless someone gives me something I would be foolish to say no to. |

It's just as hard to find a number one center. Teams can go decades without either one.
Nashville, who was in a similar position as we're in right now, pulled the trigger on the Seth Jones deal. I'm striking for a player of higher value IMO than Ryan Johansen.
These trades can get done.
Imagine Leon Draisitl at center for the Flyers when the puck drops in September for camp. It's just something I was kicking around in my head last night watching the playoffs.
I thought it would be a decent topic to discuss on here and I think I could get behind it. Will it happen... I don't believe there's any chance it happens. - mayorofangrytown
You are talking about proven NHL defensemen vs our prospect defensemen. Seth Jones was one of their defensemen, Provorov is our best defenseman.
In 5 years (when you said we will need our #1 center) maybe we can discuss that type of trade. Right now or any time in the near future? There is no chance at all |

I originally thought that until this year.
I think he has top pairing skills.
I'll get killed for saying it but I actually think Gostisbehere gets traded. |

While we are on the topic though. Seth Jones is a (frank)ing stud. I mean that both on and off the ice
For real though. He is really good at hockey |

YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH!
I think Gostisbehere has a unique skill set. He has a rocket of a shot, skates like the wind, and his offensive creativity (when he's on) is unique when compared to a guy like (not better, just unique). I wouldn't trade him unless Sanheim proves he can replace his production. |

He is well above average at the execution of professional ice hockey. |

I understand.
I think Snaheim and eventually Myers will produce well.
I knew it would be hated. just a thought I have. |

Then you're never trading him. That's fine. I just think it's been so long since the Flyers drafted a possible number one Defenseman that this board over values him in comparison to other players of similar age and experience around the league.
No big deal. It's the reaction I expected. - mayorofangrytown
Who around the league would you compare him to? Similar age, skill set, projection, usage, etc. |

Yeah, but I also think he was benched for stuff other than "his game." He was making some fundamental defensive mistakes. |

They were further along than us. That's more than true. The guys in the trade were similar though in experience and position.
If you pass on trading Provorov then you could be the Devils, starving for offense and trading a younger D for an older forward who isn't even a pivot.
Myers or Sanheim for Nino Niederreiter doesn't appeal to me. |

Flyers need improvement in skill level, get rid of some of the 4th line players on the team, and there are several. Couturier for me has always been overrated. For me, he's nothing but a 3rd or 4th line player at best so far, probably because of the way he was utilized early on by coaches. The same way Flyer coaches ruined a young Zubrus. |

Another reason not to bury them in the AHL for so long. |
