TL:DR - YuenglingJagr
PP2 this year sucked but with a new coach they'll use same setup with moving the deck chairs. |

Phantoms assigned Carter Hart from his junior team to the phantoms, i didnt think he was eligible to play ahl hockey yet? - kej83
Because his WHL season is over he is eligible to play for the Phantoms. He will have to go back next season though. |

We all know he's better in his own end than that has been Gostisbehere. For every mistake MacD makes Ghost makes three. You don't bench a player if he's playing well.
This poop has been established. It's a fact.
... or a trap! Hell I have no idea, I'm trying to trade Provorov for Draisitl for gods sake. - mayorofangrytown
Or are we talking 90's Devils hockey? |

I know this is something BSH has been peddling, but I don't see how that judgment can be made yet. As has been the story of his entire NHL career, Couturier has been grossly misused on the PP and set up to not succeed. And this unit has had so many issues unrelated to him (how many goals did they score in the 40 games he missed the last 2 years?), that it feels like a mulligan should be called for it. He's not a great PP player, but playing net front on PP2 isn't a role for a great PP player....just a big one who is good around the net and along the boards retrieving. Watching him play QB on the half wall -- the WRONG half wall yet -- or blasting one timers from the right point is not his skill set. He shouldn't be the focal point. I can't come up with a single reason he shouldn't be good in that spot.
I'd like to see him in front of the net, where he's best, for 1 whole season and then see what happens. It's hard to make a fair judgment of players when they're not in roles they should be. The PP2 in recent years has been a disaster -- both personnel and system related -- and they somehow got worse adding TK and Provorov. Somehow the PP2 turned Gagner into a horrible PP player. It's a diseased unit.
With Weal added, and even Flip on the other side, and Coots in front, the unit did actually look like it had semblance late in the season. If Sanheim is on the team, either do 2 d-men in Sanheim+Provorov, or Sanheim with Lindblom in the slot. Lindblom can also play the right wall, which is something going forward after Flip is gone. Truthfully, I think it's TK that doesn't have the defined PP spot right now. He's not a net front guy, but he's also not good on the half wall. Wasn't a great PP guy in junior either. Maybe in the future. - Mononoke
He's probably been misused and forced to play with some subpar guys, but I still feel like he would have helped more if he was a good PP guy. With the additions of strong offensive Dmen over the next couple years, it will probably help the 2nd unit anyway. |

Yes but I doubt he's playing for the Phantoms this playoff run. This is Lyon's year to run that show.
And I seriously doubt he'll be at Flyers camp long enough to jump at least 4 goalies ahead of him on the depth chart. He ain't coming here to back up. And as of today I bet Neuvy, Stolie, Lyon and Madsen are all ahead of him on the Flyers chart. He might pass Madsen. |

I'm not trying to trash the kid. I love him and everything about his game but saying you'd only trade him for McDavid is over the top. |

I think it's harder to find a potential number one Dman then it is to find forwards. |

Zero doubt that Provorov is better than Werenski
also...no trade of that type is ever going to happen *without a contract dispute

I'm just not sure what a good PP guy means for that role. Is Ryan White intrinsically more a good PP guy than Sean Couturier?
If by good PP guy you mean a PP QB type or one that can blast one timers from the circle......well, sure, I wish he was that too. But he doesn't do that stuff at 5v5 either. He's just more of a net front guy who does the dirty work and is a support type for the real QBs. But his PP career has been spent jamming that square peg into a round hole. Every good PP unit needs a good net front presence. But somehow, against all logic, he really hasn't played that role much in recent years. If he can do that well, does that make him no longer a bad PP player? I guess I'm just trying to say that I don't see why he's intrinsically a poor PP player (despite the numbers), if used in a role he's meant for. I'd like to see it play out before I reach that conclusion. |

It's just as hard to find a number one center. Teams can go decades without either one.
Nashville, who was in a similar position as we're in right now, pulled the trigger on the Seth Jones deal. I'm striking for a player of higher value IMO than Ryan Johansen.
These trades can get done.
Imagine Leon Draisitl at center for the Flyers when the puck drops in September for camp. It's just something I was kicking around in my head last night watching the playoffs.
I thought it would be a decent topic to discuss on here and I think I could get behind it. Will it happen... I don't believe there's any chance it happens. |

I totally agree. He is about as close to untouchable as the get in my book.
If I were inclined to move him, it wouldnt be a one for one deal. Id ask for the moon. Top 6 forward, top forward prospect, top pick type deal. |

That's the only player I'd trade him for. You can bring up Matthews, Eichel, Nylander, Laine, etc. but I think that Provorov has the potential to be a Norris-caliber defenseman, and they are by far the hardest thing to find next to a "generational talent" like McDavid. |

Then you're never trading him. That's fine. I just think it's been so long since the Flyers drafted a possible number one Defenseman that this board over values him in comparison to other players of similar age and experience around the league.
No big deal. It's the reaction I expected. |

I get that.
Makes you think. I think Provorov will be better then Jones though. I think Provorov will be our Drew Doughty.
I like Draisitl and think it would be great but I have trouble doing a one for one with provorov. I just have more value on the defender.

I'm not completely sold on Draisitl until he does it without Mcdavid or Taylor Hall. Not convinced he can be the catalyst on his own line yet, and there is no way I trade Provorov until I'm sure he can be.
