Has he reached his potential yet?
- VanHockeyGuy

History says yes, most guys reach that 300 game mark and you know what you've got....he's there.

I wouldn't risk trading down... Just have our list and pick the BPA according to it - even if it makes no sense to the ppl who only go by consensus rankings.
- DrChristianTroy

Trading down is moronic. This organization is desperate for high end skil NOT depth

I don't know when his wrist got injured and I am not blaming him. I am glad they are giving him a show me contract. I would hate to lock him in for 5 years after what I saw last year, but I would gladly lock in the player he was in the Fla Playoffs
- VANTEL

He said it happened very early in the year. 2-3 weeks in if I remember correctly

Any trade down ideas i have r slim to none tbh.
I also don't see any package deal we make unless we can move Edler.
Not sure what else i would do if JB. Maybe just status quo & draft is inevitable.

- Nighthawk

No trading down. Move Tanev/Edler for picks and go from there. Get Cal Foote somehow.

It really is.

With Tanev/Edler gone the only remnants of the old core we have left are the Sedins. And hopefully they do not resign after next season so we have an actual clean slate to work with.

A 2 year deal would be best, gives us a year to see him and a year to trade him if he won't re-sign. A 1 year deal leaves him UFA i think.

Who r these high end skill guys?
They all get picked in order & nobody slips down or is a diamond in the rough?
Drafting is an inexact science & anything can happen.

That would best case scenario. Do we know if JB has tried asking him to waive his NTC?

Only picks i like r Patrick Mittelstadt Makar or Glass.
All the rest i'm wary about of or luke warm on.
Mid 1st there so many to choose out of.
Pettersen could be a real steal.
Nico idk but ppl r overly excited about him IMO.
Early 2nd rd pick could get us a nice find or someone who slips down.
Edler to TBL or Wings or the Sabres is my best scenario for a 1st.

I will say this, this team isn't great we all know that, buts its not as bad as some think but getting better is a everyday thing it doesn't happen overnight it takes time, gilles left us with a mess and jb and trev have a tough job, they have made good and bad decisions but the good outweighs the bad IMO, every management team isn't perfect. Getting a superstar would change the game but how many of them are available, until then its a puzzle there trying to put together with some fine pieces and were about to add more in the next few years, patience is the key for fans and canucks fans havnt got much of that.

Ideally we have to have a roster that is trending up very well then entice JT maybe.
Solid D & good wingers for him & not a black hole in goal would be a minimum.

Gradin told a good friend of mine that he is extremely high on him...
- DrChristianTroy

He is having a very bad u18 tournament. It seems that he was playing with Dahlen in the men's second division when he went over to scout. People are super high on Makar because he put up great numbers in a much lesser league as an older player even.

Fabbro with 18 and Cholowski 12. Points they scored their first years in NCAA.

Do you have a better chance getting a first line player at 3rd overall or 10th? It's a pretty simple concept. We need players with first line potential not safe low ceiling prospects

What relevance does that have to the discussion? Assume JV is a bust who will never play in the NHL and you will sleep better at night. JV sucks terribly. That doesn't change the fact that you have a better shot at getting impact players at the top of the draft

Most years your right, not sure about this year according to experts, for eg if glass slips to 10 will he better than casey in 3 years who knows.

If you look at the post I quoted, maybe you can figure it out. If not, you should get off your high horse......actually, you should get off it regardless.

That's a hilarious comment coming from you. 80% of your posts are attacking other posters. I may be opinionated but I try to avoid insulting people.

Yeah ok.

I see you can't figure it out, even though your own words mention it. He was a safe pick, when the first line potential players were still there.
