Other teams have no problems of crashing the net or playing hard in front of our net . there is no push back.

Edler is a pure minute muncher . He doesn't add a spark , he doesn't protect he just defends.

- VANTEL

guddy would have helped, we need him and maybe he can mentor tree into being tougher.

He sits on top of the crease playing goal too much

Again, I agree, but that's not his job. His job is to move the puck to the forwards and defend. I'd be more than happy if they got rid of him for someone with a bit more edge, that said, they've gotta be good at doing their job, which is playing defense.
- LeftCoaster

That edge should come from a healthy EG & Sbisa

Gradin told a good friend of mine that he is extremely high on him...

fine then its willie it didn't help when there best dman had 3 injuries not to mention the mumps and food poisoning and 2 rookies and a second year guy on your d.

You can blame it on as many things as you want but they were third last, last year, giving up 2668 shots against. This year they were second last giving up 2605 shots against. Only Arizona was worse.

Ottawa and Columbus are good examples, they changed their defensive systems/coaching, both were bottom five last year, and look at the years they had, much better. Columbus finished 12th in shots against and Ottawa 17th....much much better!

If we don't pick Patrick & JB is not high on Casey i'd like a trade down for who JB is targeting. Idk who that is but the right offer would be worth listening to. That said i want to keep our 2nd.

I like Gudbrandson but I will be truthful he was not that effective this year. He had 2 fights all year and I don't remember highlight reels of big hits.

I again blame the gang mentality of this team. If you are the only one fighting and hitting it is bloody draining. They will soon stop if they are the only one .

Canucks have to change their style because this cycle system coming back next year is going to be boring as crap.

If a team is going to be bad make sure your team is going to be dishing out big hits and be tough.

This team needs a lot of house cleaning and that is why it pisses me off to let contracts expire.

As I said I am already looking forward to game 82 next year

Team toughness could use a big bump.
More offensive flair & high speed skating all game long.
A threat on the point is a huge hole.

I wouldn't risk trading down... Just have our list and pick the BPA according to it - even if it makes no sense to the ppl who only go by consensus rankings.

Fair enough, but other scouts are high on their guys as well. No doubt a round table discussion.

guddy wasn't there, he was fighting with a bad wrist, his mentality should rub off on the team with a full year and yes we need to change the culture and guddy will help.

I don't know when his wrist got injured and I am not blaming him. I am glad they are giving him a show me contract. I would hate to lock him in for 5 years after what I saw last year, but I would gladly lock in the player he was in the Fla Playoffs

On a good team he's a third pairing guy, Brendan Dillon, on the Canucks he can play top four. Thankfully he's young enough that he can still be here by the time they get good.

Truthfully he's not a great dman though, just ok. So be tough damn it!!

he doesn't know either, but he said he felt something in pre season and didn't think much of it but it got worse as time went on.

I hearya but need to keep options open.
It would take a good offer to even consider moving down.

... and you don't get those kinds of offers in a crapshoot draft.

I am not blaming any coach because there have been three of them. It is no coincidence that players that leave the Canucks flourish on other teams . Same as the coaches that leave here flourish .

We have been soft and suck since 2001

I agree again & why having talks with other GM's will still happen.
If JB can get a better sense of who wants to move up all the better.
Contingency plan is make our pick knowing who might deal for him.
From there it only happens if the guy JB wants is available or not.
The other key is what the + is or its not happening.

the grit we had kept getting injured, DD lost for the year etc, lets face it this was a tough year injury wise, it seemed every game someone got injured a lot of them were freakish, then the mumps and food poisoning, JB recognized the grit factor and tried to address it but they got injured.

He could become a Dillon but he could be a Willie Mitchell. I think he needs to prove he can be a Willie .

If he is only going to be a Dillon you can get that for cheaper.

Any trade down ideas i have r slim to none tbh.
I also don't see any package deal we make unless we can move Edler.
Not sure what else i would do if JB. Maybe just status quo & draft is inevitable.
