Those kids are dime a dozen, everyone's got those guys. The chances of them making it are slim and none. That's not poopting on them it's just reality. Hey I hope they surprise, but I doubt it.
- LeftCoaster

Sorry, I disagree. I think the likelihood of Lockwood making it is high. Gaudette and Bris are probably 50%. That's far from "slim and none."

Well I think you are wrong on both counts, Guance, Chaput and Megan are all prospects that belong in Utica and were sorely missed there this year.

I could see Boeser making a case for next year, Goldobin I'll side with Coacher assessment that you used a couple a days ago.

- Makita

I didn't say Goldobin shouldn't be on the Comets I am saying he deserves to be on the PP and top 6 over our current stars that occupy that roster spot (Megna and Chaput).

Boeser, Molino, Chaput, Gaunce, Stecher, Virtanen, Boucher all belong in the American Hockey League.

HOWEVER....when you have a poor team with little for prospects you're forced to play some of them in the NHL. That doesn't make it right.

We have 2 players that have played a full year in Utica that are current members of the Canucks

I Won't count Boeser or Molino seeing they have so few games , but we still have 2 players jump from NCAA that have stuck. It is an effective way to find roster players

- VANTEL

Over the last few yrs we are seeing a lot more players come out of the NCAA and have some success. The NCAA is just as productive as AHL in developing prospects.

What makes Lockwood high and Gaudette and Brisebrois 50%?

BOOM

This was my original post . When the talent on the big team is crap you can't keep the better talent on the farm

Yes it is, the big difference between the AHL and NCAA is the player is already under contract with an NHL team when he's in the AHL. That way it appears that more players are coming from the AHL.

No, I actually follow our prospects and folks that know more than both of us think their games translate well.

I am just really high on Lockwood. Gaudette is producing at a 1st round draft pick rate but he does have mobility issues. Lockwood has the speed and tenacity to be an energy player at the next level at the very least. His game should translate very well to the NHL. Just wait until next season, he is going to put up massive numbers if he stays healthy. He was his teams best player as a rookie and next year he should have some talent to play with.

Edit. Brisbois looks good as well but he is more of a project.

I'm sorry but you're wrong. More players develop in the AHL than the NCAA. The NCAA is producing more and more kids and they're catching up with the CHL but it's still 18/19/20 year old kids just like the CHL.

Everyone looks at the top end of the first round and says those kids didn't have to go to the AHL to develop, well no poop, they were drafted as the best of the best in the world. A lot of them are ready with a years development in either the CHL or NCAA.

But you start to look at the second round on and a high percentage of kids need further development in the AHL after junior or NCAA hockey.

there's always kids coming out of the CHL and NCAA into the NHL, but there's more kids that have to spend time in the AHL. (frank) me just look, I know you don't research anything but it's there if you want to look.

Time to come to new millennium gramps . How many Canucks in the last five years have played a full year on our AHL team are on the Canucks how many NCAA players on the Canucks ?

That's an extremely bad example, the Canucks. If they'd have drafted better during the Gillis years you'd have saw players develop in the AHL AFTER junior or NCAA. But they didn't so you see them at the bottom of the standings plucking kids out of junior and the NCAA before they've properly developed and are ready.
