Why does it have to be prospects?
- VANTEL

It doesn't, other than my whole point was that there is no need to rush the prospects into the NHL. By all means, the Canucks can go out and sign whoever they feel will make them harder to play against. And if those roster spots are filled with journeymen or grinders or whoever then they can't be filled with rookies that should be developing in the hopes that it will sell a few tickets.

Those people have been identified as clueless idiots.

You just called Vantel a clueless idiot and everyone else that says OJ is NHL ready without playing a single NHL game.

I miss bench clearing brawls.

Remember the game against the Flames when Torts went ape poope? Line brawl to start the game off.

It's no accident that the majority of those players developed together on the farm. But I'm not sure that the market will allow it or if management can withstand the pressure to insert young guys as quickly as possible. I keep reading that we can't send someone back to junior or someone is NHL ready before they've played a game. I'd be trying to keep the prospects from the NHL for as long as possible.

You raise valid points but at the same time, if a prospect is ready, it's not always best to shield them from greater competition. What would Boeser gain from playing college next year?

Just what ive heard. There is zero chance that the coyotes take anything but one of those 2 if they are on the board. They are loaded up front at every position and good on left D with a gapping hole on right side.

Canucks problem is their prospects are better than the regulars. It is hard to sell to the fan base you are keeping a prospect down while they watch the crap they are tossing out and charging $150.00 for.

Prime example was how many people this year screamed to bring in Subban ? There were a lot of empty seats this year at the end and ownership is probably pissed.

They are starting a rebuild three years too late.

They have four prospects that have a legit shot at making the NHL full-time, Tryamkin, Boeser, Juolevi and Demko. The others are just a dime a dozen that every other team has, there's a lot of building to be done on the left coast.
- LeftCoaster

From what I've seen of Boeser so far I'm willing to bet he doesn't see any time in Utica. Maybe a small stint like Bo but that's about it.

Perhaps we can have one at the picnic as well? Someone else take Booner though, that (frank)er is crazy
- LeftCoaster

I assumed that was the reason for the picnic in the first place.

Boeser has already played two years in the minors

I'd add Dahlin and Goblin to that list. I think Gaudette, Lockwood and Bris make the NHL but it's too hard to predict their ceiling/ floor at this stage.

Ha....no he hasn't. College hockey is completely different from the pro game. Demko said as much this year. Everything happens quicker and guys are more skilled as well as bigger faster stronger.

That said, if he works on his skating this summer he could potentially bypass that step.

OJ should be going through Utica but that is not an option. If you read Canucks Army they are predicting OJ on the Canucks. I have heard many media members saying he will play on the Canucks too. It is a flawed system but I don't see OJ back in London next year.

I'm really interested to see what Brisebrois turns out to be. He had a breakout yr this yr. 47 points in 61 games and a +35. Smooth skater with size and leadership qualities.

About 5 players yearly jump from the NCAA to NHL about 10 a year from AHL to NHL.

It is not as far off as you state.

I agree it's a dumb rule that 19yr olds can't play in the AHL. It should be what's best for the development of the player, not what's best for the CHL.

I'm not actually disagreeing with you, I was just pointing out Marwoods comment....it was funny.

He will need a cpl yrs in the AHL, but it's encouraging to see progression in prospects.
