Yep, me too! This is not an instant gratification business, those that attempt that usually fail, as you can see by Benning's attempts to "be competitive".

Building a winner is something the Vancouver market has never had the stomach for, thus they've never won a Cup. They closest they came was drafting the twins, Kesler, Edler, Bieksa, Hansen and the boys.

It's no accident that the majority of those players developed together on the farm. But I'm not sure that the market will allow it or if management can withstand the pressure to insert young guys as quickly as possible. I keep reading that we can't send someone back to junior or someone is NHL ready before they've played a game. I'd be trying to keep the prospects from the NHL for as long as possible.

No team will touch Lilegren with a high pick. Makar may slip into the top 5.

Just what ive heard. There is zero chance that the coyotes take anything but one of those 2 if they are on the board. They are loaded up front at every position and good on left D with a gapping hole on right side.

That happens in a perfect situation. Det had a very strong core for years and years and would bring in a prospect every two years or so. Most teams that are drafting high don't have that luxury.

It is kind of hard to fill the arena when you have Chaput and Megna playing top 6 . It is a lot easier when you have Zetterberg and Datsyuk

Imagine being a AAA player playing with a bunch of A or B players.

Are A or B players elite? They have strange names.

If anything, I suspect the Avs and or the Yotes trade down because both desperately need dmen. Good asset management would dictate the guy you want will be there if you trade down a few spots plus you pick up another say 2nd round pick.

I get that Vancouver is not Edmonton. We won't fill the arena to watch a bad team. But unless ownership is willing to take a long term view it's going to be a long painful climb back to respectability.

Thats what the one rumor was for the coyotes but said if they cant they go dman anyway. Coyotes winning the lotto would for sure make things interesting.

Some people are of the opinion they can't sell a rebuild, I disagree, I say they have no choice if they truly want to be a contender again.

They can sell a rebuild easily if they actually have a plan that people can behind. The problem is the last plan of trading picks and signing UFAs was terrible and everyone knew it so no one would get behind it.

Adding new young talent every year that people can see and cheer for gives the fans soemthing to get behind.

Boeser next year..
Demko, OJ, 2017 1st and Gaudette the year after..

Instead of oh hey look Loui ERickson at 30 years old

The funny thing is those are usually caused by animosity built during a playoff series. If the Canucks tried to start one now the other team would be like, "no, we're good."

Years upon years of bad drafting says they have to rebuild, that could honestly take four years or ten years....depends on draft position and available kids.

Totally agree with this thought process.

Note to self, take Cuban out of the Pom Pom waving, we have the best superstar prospects that are (were) miscast by Willie group.

They have four prospects that have a legit shot at making the NHL full-time, Tryamkin, Boeser, Juolevi and Demko. The others are just a dime a dozen that every other team has, there's a lot of building to be done on the left coast.
