Lower body injury.
Not sure why the have to be so cute here. - Atomic Wedgie
yeah if he is done for the playoffs he is done... just call it what it is... its not like the opposition can target it when he comes back since... well... he isn't coming back |

In the immediate future and with respect to the playoffs, you are correct. With proper planning going forward though, that should be his last game in blue and white (which is an unfortunate way to go out, of course). - lumlums
I'm not sold on replacing him next year (barring career ending injury). He has been getting better as the season went on. Playing bottom pair with PK minutes has fit his game. I wouldn't be upset if he was resigned to 1yr/ 1.5m contract. Would give our prospects another year to round out their game. |

yeah... and he is a right handed shot... the two most ready leaf d men in the minors are both lefties... and babcock has a penchant for the leftie rightie d pairings |

I think there's a real good chance that this D core can evolve into something that's respected around the league. |

They have some good NHL D men, the problem is they only have 3 or 4 of them. Was it Pat Burns that said you need at least 8 for the playoffs? |

Ya they should be able to fix the defense next year hopefully? A free agent, a trade ,and maybe even one of the kids are ready for bottom pairing assignments? But I'm blown away by the effort so far! |

I think the Pens showed that mediocre D with great forwards can get it done.
Not saying all the Pens d are mediocre but I'm sure their bottom guys are not a lot better then the rest of the teams in the league.

Carrick would be ok on the 3rd pair maybe?
I'd have Shat's on top pair myself.

Yep
Him and Reilly need to keep stepping up.
Hunwick hasn't been poop either. That's helping |

He can't help but notice they have a job opening. He'll get a good look at the city this week. Then the Leafs will drive a dump truck full of money up to his house. |

Yep. I forgot about him so I put him battling with Polak.
Think Babs would ever try a Righty on the left side? I'd love for Carick to slide the the left side on the 3rd pairing if possible |

He handled himself really well in his interview last night. I don't think the
Media bothers him which is a huge box to be checked off if you want to play for the Leafs |

This.
I think fans and media still see the D world through Duncan Keith coloured glasses.
He's a freak show; stop looking for him, you won't find him.
What you can find are serviceable NHL D that are an upgrade over Hunlak, don't cost much, and fill a hole.
Add a committed team to a system they all buy into, and you have yourselves a competitive playoff team every year. |

Ya interesting but I'd rather maybe have alzner? Very durable, plays a solid game ,sort of stay at home if you will, and at 5.8 for five years, shatty probably gets 7×7 from the Rangers! |

agreed!
leaving Washington with the series tied after 2 overtime games is a huge accomplishment for this young team.... the trick for babcock will be to keep them focused for game 3 with all the hype and fanfare going on in toronto |

For the extra 1.2 I'll take Shat's and move Martin to get the 1.2 back

I agree with this... it doesn't have to be a superstar... which frankly would only get the leafs into cap trouble when the kids are coming off their ELCs
what they need are solid dependable guys who aren't flashy who can get it done in their own zone and are effective on the PK |
